No, lol, you can literally just show up and register. All you need to do is bring your own controller and pay the registration fee. Plenty of people sign up just to have a fun time and learn from the experience. Most entrants aren't delusional enough to think they'll actually win the tournament, especially knowing people like SonicFox are also competing. They also just don't expect to be paired with SonicFox immediately and get basically nothing out of it... but that happens too.
It's all good but it would be nice to see a change and not always using the meta of using broke characters. Money is on the line yeah and even PRO players will always pick the top tiers but it's boring to see the same stuff all the time and it would be hype to see a Scorpion or Havik winning Evo, as the last MK major tourney was all PM and Johnny cage.
Homelander pressure is stright up broken. I don't get it, how can nrs include and know combos that are just so good on block it breaks every other character in the game. Baraka(before nerfs), Johnny, kenshi, sindel.. then homelander.. wtf nrs, this is why people don't like mk1. You can't even do a singel attack in a round when a good player is keeping up the pressure, all you can do is block the right string over and over.
None of these characters were game breaking. You just complain too much. Yes, they were a bit OP, but they are all gonna get nerfed. Literally every game has strong and weak characters, stop complaining
