    I will say I hadn’t noticed because it doesn’t apply to me at this point but does too my brother and his kids. Your viewer is 100% spot on about it being a clean show and no concerns watching it anywhere with whoever. That’s hard to find nowadays and I’m sure a lot of subscribers appreciate that.

    Great episode guys. One of the best in recent memory, IMHO. As always, I'm in your debt considering the educational value this episode presented. I am constantly asked about thermal on different hunting websites where I post. More and more I suggest folks watch your epiisodes. Happy New Year and best wishes for health and prosperity to you and yours in the new year that comes. Ya, GWB

    This is most cogent episode to date concerning the tube stile vs brick scope. I bought an Iray Bravo a few years ago and absolutely hated it because even on an ar-15 I had to collapse the stock to use it . Finally traded for an iray RL-384 four power thermal brick type and have never regretted it

    I don't own a thermal of any kind yet, but I have been watching your videos for several years now. I just recently subscribed but thought I already was. Anyway, I really appreciate the information that you both share in these podcasts.

    Great show and very useful info for and newbs and vets to this world. I'm currently running L3 DTNVS bino's with a B.E. Meyers MAWL-DA for moving to contact & basic scanning. I flip the nods up and use a RIX ST6 when I want to do ID/PID scanning (1x mag is perfect for this job) in brush and trees. Once I found the group of pigs or coyote I want to engage, I pivot to my AR-10 where I use an N-Vision Halo XRF for taking shots. So IMHO, having owned all 3 types of optics you absolutely need a 1x handheld thermal for scanning (you can't scan with a rifle in a buggy or while walking) and you need a very high quality 640/1280 (minimum of 3x mag or more) dedicated rifle thermal optic. The NV bino's and MAWL-DA were designed for urban & CQB work. Pretty useless for hunting compared to thermals.

    I recently bought the slim L35 and put on a rem 700. The bolt handle hits the mount if mounted to far back. Form matters. Keep up the great content.

    On binocular vs monocular topic…the other thing is that after using any optic with a display screen, they wash out your natural night vision for a few minutes. So, if you’re a mobile nighttime hunter binos are not a great option, because they wash out both eyes and make it much harder to navigate around at night.

    • @whome3911
      @whome3911 14 дней назад

      Not as bad if you use “red monochromatic” color and adjust the border display down.

    • @rm10002
      @rm10002 14 дней назад

      @@whome3911 Yeah, that’s true. Red might be fine for hog hunters and large targets, but I haven’t met any predator guys that like it.

      Traditionally, most users find binos much more friendly on the eyes than monoculars. Thats because the "night blindness" is caused by your eyes dilating to different levels when you're using a single eye monocular. Thats because one eye is dilating very large to try and gather as much artificial light at night as part of your natural night vision. the other eye behind the monocular is dilating down very small, because you've got it within a couple inches of a bright digital dispaly projecting light back into your pupil. And since your brain overlays the images (right eye left brain, left eye right brain)....the "night blindness" effect is the brain trying to communicate different brightness settings to the same brain. If you're getting more night blindess coming off binos, i'd go in and just turn brightness as low as possible, or red/green monochrome is a little less taxing (assuming your unit has that).

      We agree and meant to mention the fact that both eyes can be temporarily “blinded” by the screen. Good point!

    HI to the both of you, I watched the episode mag v res . Full understand the double the mag half the resolution but what happens when the pip is on at say 8mag. does it effect the resolution of the base mag. cheers for any info

    • @TheLateNightVisionShow
      @TheLateNightVisionShow  14 дней назад

      Great question. So PiP is slightly different on different optics but the one thing that is consistent is the PiP is digitally zoomed up so the exact same resolution loss that would happen in the big screen happens in the little PiP screen. Thanks for watching

    Form does matter, it is secondary to function but it is still very important to effective usage. Tube style thermals are very versatile in what you can easily mount them onto.

    • @TheLateNightVisionShow
      @TheLateNightVisionShow  13 дней назад

      We agree. They are the most versatile since they will mount on any rifle. Thanks for watching!

    Do you sell clip-on optis/ mounts for use with a premium day optic?

    • @TheLateNightVisionShow
      @TheLateNightVisionShow  14 дней назад

      No we do not. In over a decade we have yet to find a clip on that performs even marginally as good as a less expensive dedicated thermal scope. We highly advise AGAINST them.

    Thank you for the information? What do you think about the combo night/thermal units?

    • @TheLateNightVisionShow
      @TheLateNightVisionShow  13 дней назад

      It depends on the brand. Currently the only NV/thermal combo optic we sell or recommend is the new AGM Observe IR binoculars. Everything else we’ve seen so far has been cheap china junk.🤣

    on form factor it definitely matters for me. I had the regular size Pulsar XG50 until it crapped out and found that because I only have ultralight sbr's and short pistols, that form is just too heavy and not balanced. I had to move to smaller optics and will be that way for the future.

    Greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪🇸🇪
    please help me, give your best tips or other suggestions.
    PFN640 + flip to slide (in front of my low magnification scope)
    AR-10
    This is for hunting, being able to use my "regular" sight and being able to flip over quickly is my goal.

      Sorry we don’t have any suggestions for those style of optics. Also US law prevents us from advising non-US citizens. A good dealer in your country can help. Good luck!

    That Nocpix Slim is just begging for an extended "shoe" on the bottom. The detachable base will not work in the rearmost pic slot without interfering with charging handle. I consider it marginal at best on an AR. Hoping the aftermarket comes with a solution because it is a very handy scanner/scope combo. Not going to work on a bolt action at all the way it is presently built and that's a shame.
