What a great way to help keep critters out of the coop! I had chickens for 20 yrs, but this last rural locale is LOADED with wild animals looking for a meal. They are such calm and loving pets/ family members. 🥳🐓

Sophie has trouble walking, but she manages to get up her favorite roosting spot everyday for the night. But sometimes I give her lift as well. As long as she can eat, I want to assist her. She's still maintaining her status at the top of her pecking order. So, she's like the queen of the flock. And she's my Super Model for my painting.
Your painting is truly beautiful . I love your attitude towards those beautiful animals ... they are 'members of the family' (you would not eat your family members, would you?) ... I don't my chickies are not being eaten. They are our pets & gift us with eggs & laughter & joy. The rooster is a true beauty.
Thank you for your kind words! Before having chickens as pets, I used to eat chickens. But I no longer eat chicken at all. I eat eggs from our chickens, though. I don't even eat turkey, even for Thanksgiving. It's a personal choice I made.

This is so beautiful! I've seen so many chicken care videos that are awful and wrong. Finding this is so wonderful! You're doing it the way it should be. Husbandry is so important! @@naomigrayart they all free-range on 3 acres now it's been so hot I just couldn't keep them in so now they are in the garden an the patio my husband's car repair shed just everywhere. But there happy. I even got a text from my neighbor that one flew over the fence to visit his girls. They are busy bodies! Do you do commissions? Blessings
