who else is watching the video while breastfeeding?

Great video. Normalising breastfeeding is such a wonderful thing to do. I've been feeding for a combined total of 43 months over my two kids and never had a single glance or comment that was negative (that I noticed). I'm definitely someone who just gets on with it, but some mums don't have that same confidence so this will really help them out

Well done Sarah, and yes if it gives just one mother more confidence then it has been worthwhile. Thank you so much for watching xx

For anyone who worries I've fed three babies in public (UK) for 5, 13 & 8 months. No one ever said anything rude or judgey to me, not ONCE! Or even even looked at me funny. 😄
if anything I got the odd supportive comment..but on the whole people just happily left me to it 👍🏼

I breastfed for 9 weeks with my son and had looks in that time but no comments. Also had a creepy man stare at me whilst feeding in restaurant and trying to eat at the same time. X

Big up Emily. I loved this vlog. Topic is so close to my heart.
I have been told by an ignorant security guard that I'm not allowed to feed my baby in that mall but by then my boy was 4 months and I was no longer nervous about it so I gave him a piece of my mind and complained to the center management. I'm in South Africa and we also r legally allowed to breastfeed in public.

I don't have kids myself, but a few times I've seen someone breastfeedinng in public. I admit I was a little uncomfortable, but don't see anything wrong with it, just be a little discreet about it, and cover up a little.

  • @joannameade1265

Yes!!! Love this video! Be confident & proud that you are able to nourish your baby in the most natural way possible! I have 4 kids and I've always had problems with breastfeeding, except with my 4th (who is 4 months right now and I'm breastfeeding while watching the video) and it was extremely daunting to go out in public to nurse. One tip that I would recommend is to practice at home with the blanket/muslin/scarf or whatever cover-up you plan on using so that you're not fumbling with it for the first time in public. Practice doing it at the dinner table, in the living room, and any other room to get a sense of different chairs, different spaces, etc. and practice on both breasts. You'd be surprised to see how uncoordinated you can be with your non-dominant hand! LOL I practiced in front of a mirror as well to see what I was doing and what other people could see. That definitely helped. Then you just have to go out there and do it!
Well done, Emily! Loved the video!

If I could like this 100 times I would! I'm currently breastfeeding our 3 month old daughter as I watch this and these are great tips! Although she's my third I didn't breastfeed longer than a month with my other two due to lack of support! It's still nerve wracking feeding in public but I just think, how proud I am of her and I to still be breastfeeding and carry on 😊 xxx

I know I'm the states target passed a law that any breastfeed mom gets first priority of a dressing room in front of other customers that need a room to try on clothes in order to prevent them from using the bathroom it was passed about a year or two ago :)

Confidence is definitely the key, you're right, flashing a smile always works!
The breastfeeding vests and tops at H&M are great & fairly inexpensive =)
We recently got home from our hols & I was surprised to find that my husband snapped lots of photos of me breastfeeding our daughter in all sorts of weird and wonderful places! He says he's proud of me for sticking at it after struggling with tongue tie & ending up combination feeding due to low supply - I definitely get confused looks when I breastfeed before whipping out a bottle of formula!

So important to tell new mothers to smile & be confident. I have a 7 week old & have had people give me so much unwanted advice & be totally rude & patronising. It's really unfair. Both me and my baby need time to learn & get to know eachother! From now on I'll smile, be confident & flip them the bird.

I had my baby at 17 and decided to stick with breastfeeding, I live in LA California where people walk around with their boobs out but breastfeeding gets a lot of stares 🤔 luckily all my family was very supportive and nobody ever approached me to tell me anything. Many stared or looked uncomfortable but when you have a hungry baby nothing else should matter ❤️

Exactlyyyy the baby is priority not the other people even if is family or closer ones(should be more empath!)and also dirty looks are pervert even from old woman who only think the dirty in the world and reproducing the punnishment to moms instead to the dirty porn based society. Im so tired to see how babies pays the consecuences of moms focused at the marketing;at others looks;fashion and style instead of psicoemotional neurocognitive consecuences in adulthood to their own baby(and its a problem for the future of all!!). Stay strong moms of the world and do it for your baby and for all of human kin🌏🤰🥺💗

About to have another baby and hoping to have even more confidence this time around. I loved hearing you talk about it and yes it can be stressful but shouldn’t be ! I enjoy reading the comments as well from other mommies who are confident . Helps me a lot ❤️☺️

Thankyou for striking a wonderful balance of being supportive of breastfeeding whilst not being judgemental of formula feeding in this video, my first son was formula fed fully after 6 weeks due to so many problems breastfeeding whereas my second son was breastfed for 18 months so I've done it both ways, and they're both happy and mostly healthy. But I don't think the guilt over not breastfeeding my first son will ever leave me, whenever he is sick a part of me thinks it's my fault, and he's six years old. Mum guilt! X

    • @mrsemilynorris
      @mrsemilynorris  7 лет назад

Haha Della massive mum guilt and so not needed. Such nice things for you to say. You have done what was needed for your children and every child is different and little if nothing is because of how they were fed as babies. Do whats best for you and them and mum guilt is more natural than breastfeeding!! Thank you so much for watching xx

Thank you for posting a video on this topic and giving confidence to mothers all around the world that it is possible to breastfeed in public and you really make the task of breastfeeding easier for us all! Love your other video on breastfeeding too! I watched it at a time when I was truly exhausted and in total despair over breastfeeding, my little one was about a month and a half, I was feeding around the clock and looking for help on youtube. That's how I discovered your channel. You gave me hope that it was going to get better and I instantly felt more relaxed. It got much much easier. Thank you again for everything!

I want to hug you right through the screen! You are so warm and understanding. I also appreciate your disclaimer up front because you are absolutely right; do whatever is right for you and your baby! I recently began combo-feeding (formula and breastfeeding depending on the time) and it helps to be encouraged that either option is right. I completely agree with just looking at the baby whenever you feel nervous. Great advice! Also, I breastfed in front of a full length mirror just so I could realize that it really isn't a big deal and that I'm not showing anymore skin than I would in a swimsuit or in an outfit I'd wear in my 20s (lol). Thank you for all of your great videos! I haven't stopped talking about your carseat on wheels. My infant is 4.5 months but I'm hoping by the time I have a third (oldest is close to 5 years) that I can afford it!

This made me subscribe to your channel. I'm 14 months in on exclusively breastfeeding and I love it. I'm also a new Mom and I haven't received a dirty look or comment about breastfeeding. It's a powerful connection to your child, although it's very stressful to have a child depend on you that much to the point where you're the only one who can comfort them. Your positive attitude transfers through the camera and I wish we could be real life friends. Thank you so much I know I'm a bit late on this!

I am NOT going to torture and punish my Little baby because others are ignorant. I honestly don't care what uneducated people have to say about it. I am extremely conservative and go to great lengths to make sure we are covered in every way. OUR God designed us all in the perfect way. It's Natural and not man made. You can control what your baby gets that is healthy. I support breastfeeding because you are helping their immune systems have a fighting chance to not be sickly with allergies etc.
    Hugs to you all❣💌🚼💗

@@SegmentswithSammy it's not necessarily "disrespectful" if someone is not covered to you liking. You always have the option to look elsewhere. The person is just feeding their baby. They can be exposed if they want. Its honestly none of your business.

I am only 7 weeks pregnant. I recently had some spotting and have been advised bed rest. I am surrounding myself with baby related thoughts to create a positive attitude. I somehow feel this will keep the baby safe. This might be the strangest reason to watch this video but I must say you rock motherhood.

It's so nice to see this video, I'm a really confident person when feeding my baby but this would be so nice for any new first time mummy's. Emily your videos are so helpful I used to watch them when my little Evie was cluster feeding. I only aimed for 12 weeks and now I'm coming up to 7 months so looking forward to the next video. Oh and love the top your wearing xx

Loved this video Emily! Breastfeeding has been such a struggle to me with my almost 9 month old baby boy, but I'm trying to hang in there and make it to a year. Thanks for your tips and would love to watch any other videos about breastfeeding tips/advice that you have to share. xx

Love these tips! You have the exactly the same opinion as me about being respectful (and you don't need to be naked to feed your baby) I am definitely going to use the muslin under the bra strap method with this baby if I am out in public. I breastfed my daughter for 6 months but never in public but I am thinking with this baby (due in 4 weeks) I will probably have to feed in public as I will be more out and about more so will keep all your tips to mind. Thanks xx

These are such great tips for new breast feeding mummies. I really think surrounding yourself with fellow mummies who are breastfeeding is really helpful as you can gossip and ask each other questions. Also wanted to say that John Lewis is really great for breastfeeding e.g. separate room, water tank for drinking and comfy chairs. Thanks for the tips. Looking great as always Emily. (might have a small girl crush on you. 😉😶 sorry not sorry) xxxx

I think it bother me less feeding in public with perfect strangers than people I actually know . Because stranger are busy ,they most likely not paying attention at all to what you are doing and they just move on with their life, if you just cover yourself a little. But exemple of MIL who come sit right next to you and grab your shoulder and is just starring at you the whole time even if you have a cover on and keep saying over and over" Aw these little noise of baby sucking blablblabla "... IT irritates me so much I don't know why 😲

I remember the first time I ever went out with my newborn and when he needed a feed I started panicking as I didn't know where to feed him- ended up going to a changing room! Now I mainly feed him in the car if I'm out shopping or running errands! Love all of your videos Emily 😄

LOVE IT! I love the changing room idea. I would usually just feed my son in the car before we go in somewhere but I never thought of that ! I've never used a cover up, when he was younger I just used a muslin blanket as well. I'm now super comfortable feeding in public with my 9 month old. 😊

Great tips! I EBF as well as in public and I cover up, but it still makes me a little anxious because I'm afraid someone will not like it. Anyway I think you've provided some very handy tips, thank you! And I saw a few thumbs down on this video...who would thumbs down this? She not only provided breastfeeding tips, but she is so pleasant! Some people are just miserable. Probably jealous!

Thank you so much for this video Emily! I've only just started to gain confidence in breastfeeding in public (I used to being expressed milk in a bottle to warm up but one day my son decided that wouldn't be enough so I had to do what I had to do 😂). It's good to know that it's illegal to discriminate against a breastfeeding mother - I had a look and it is also illegal in New Zealand where I live so I feel confident now if anyone ever tries to challenge me about it! Although I have never had any negative feedback from anyone about it 😊 love your videos so much as a new mum to a 12 week old! Really helped as my family are still back in the UK so I needed the support! Xxxx

Once I was queuing at Primark customer services and my baby was getting irritable and the lady working there said "you can feed him in a changing room if you need to". No need to take a garment or anything. It was so good to get such a nice unsolicited offer.
