May Toriyama rest in peace. He was essentially the father of the shonen genre with how many staples he created. He may be gone, but his legacy will continue for a long, long time.
Rest in peace Akira Toriyama. Thank you for bringing me a lot of joy and happiness growing up. Your creations helped me to keep going through rough times, still do, and forever will. Thank you for all the wonderful memories, thank you for all the beautiful moments and funny moments. You’ve captivated entire generations with your amazing work and it will forever be cherished with us. Thank you, rest in peace and fire a Kamehameha for us on King Kai’s world. 💔🙏🏼🕊️
Toriyama will be missed Ash dragon Ball fans will mourn him all over the globe he has brought us so much joy and happiness we will miss him he will be missed may God watch over his soul
This man united cultures, inspired other staples like One Piece & Naruto, he changed the world! You fully & truly left your mark Toriyama. Rest in peace.
Thank you for making our childhood memories awesome Akira toriyama. And thank you for shaping the anime and manga industry that we know right now. You left such a huge impact on our pop culture not just in Japan but to the whole world. 🕯️🙏Thank you Akira Toriyama🙏🕯️
I am still in extreme pain. As if a part of me has died too. This year was supposed to be THE year. We were celebrating the 40th anniversary, we had new games, new animation, the new saga in the manga which was engaging everyone and chapter 102 was awesome. And then we lose him. On day 1 of Saiyan month. We didn't know by then and were cheering to the new month. So painful. I keep trying to cope but such a massive loss. Dragon Ball has been in my life for those 40 years. The motivation, the joy, the laughs, the awe. I really feel angry that it had to happen so soon and while he was engaged in so many new projects. A year that was supposed to be to celebrate is now for sorrow.
Aah I remember the times when I was a kid playing with my siblings and friends, having these "tails" tugged in our pants acting like we were saiyans doing kamehamehas and turning super saiyan. Toriyama gave so many people great joy. My favorites are Piccolo, Vegeta, the Buu saga and the Z movies were also a fun watch. Looking forward to Daima, Toriyama's last work back to how DB began!
I barely found out last night after I got off work this news hit hard for me also Dragon ball Z was the first anime me and my family got into my favorite movies were Bardock movie Broly the legendary Super Saiyan and Coolers revenge the first one and just watching the show all around from beginning to end.💯🙏🏼R.I.P Akira Toriyama
RIP! Dragon Ball is one of my favourite shows of all time and Piccolo(mainly because his relationship to Gohan), Cell(specifically in his first form) and Future Trunks are some of my favourites! Zarbon’s first fight with Vegeta is in my top 5 favourite moments of any show ever, not just Anime! He was a genius and will be sorely missed
Grew up with alot of DBZ memories. Still have my history of trunks vhs tape from childhood. Trunks is my fav character but love all of dbz. RIP Toriyama
I got into dragon ball by playing ragin blast and watching the live action cause I was curious😅 but when I started watching the anime it changed me. RIP Toriyama
Dragon Ball was all of our childhood just about. Impacted a lot of lives. I remember rushing home to catch Dragon Ball Z, just iconic moment after iconic moment.
a core memory i have is watching zkai on 4kids. my friend passed last year & we used to watch db amv's til morning and play every single dragon ball game. db is baked into my life through my own memories and memories i have with others
while I'm no fan of DB, Toriyama did shake the industry in Japan to it's core for the better which after took the world by storm. His work is everywhere and will be missed by fans and by others who knows the impact he made.
It sucks that Toriyama passed away this month but at least he made it to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his creation. I started out as a fan way back in 1996 when Ocean Dub did the English Dubbing years before Funimation I'd watch the Saiyan Arc all the way to when Goku arrived on Planet Namek. Then Funimation got the rights and dubbed the entire DBZ series I'm a diehard Dragon Ball fan I watched the OG DB, DBZ in English sub, and GT. When the DBZ movies started getting released in theaters I would pay to see Battle of Gods, Resurrection F, and Broly on the big screen. And even when DBS was first being broadcast in Japan I didn't bother to wait for the series to get dubbed into English I watched the episodes subbed every time a new episode dropped online. Anime deserves to be more widespread in theaters here in the United States with a 30-day screening instead of a limited three-day release the best anime director I've seen in recent years is Mamoru Hosoda. Girl Who Lept Through Time, Summer Wars, Wolf Children, The Boy and The Beast, Mirai, and Belle are beautifully animated with well-written narratives. Give them a watch if you haven't already seen them you will not be disappointed Chris.
Akira toriyama really did change the world he inspired so many great authors and influenced anime and manga he’s basically the Stan Lee of Japan without him we wouldn’t have all these amazing series as Naruto or one piece akira started it all he was a legendary story teller my fav works from him are not only dragon ball but also he’s other works like the manga dr slump the dragon quest games and two chrono games dragon quest is a very popular series same as chrono trigger and chrono cross without akira toriyama I doubt those series would be as popular and would be very different he had a very unique style of drawing he’s characters and it was like he made them come to life made the audience feel really connected to he’s characters he will be missed but he’s creation he’s works will live on forever in the form of media games and collections rest in peace akira toriyama 😭
I also was introduced to Dragon ball in Mexico, I was hooked. Chris my favorite character is Vegeta, I have the voice actors signature, Dragon ball fan for life.
my dragonball adventure started with the movies, remember renting the "worlds strongest" several times and falling in love with the anime style (and at the time i would watch jackie chan movies) it reminded me of an animated chan movie. from that to finding out it was a series, to getting hooked on it and watching it now with my daughter.
Rest in peace, Akira Toriyama. My first anime was in fact Bleach and if it weren't for Akira Toriyama inspiring Tite Kubo, I don't think I would be the anime fan I am today. I later watched the original Dragon Ball series and Dragon Ball Z and I fell in love with it.
Sensei is walking snake way right now, let’s all put our hands up and lend our energy for one last spirit bomb. Thank you Akira for teaching me to never give up
This may just be my favorite video of yours 🥹🥲😭🖤🤘🏽 I’ve been watching for a while and always love your vids but holy hell was this the best cathartic way to go through this! much love 🖤🤘🏽🖤
My wife got her citizenship just a year ago, joined the military about 7 years ago just for that. Happy for you brother. And so glad we share the same passion for this, RIP king
BKT3 on the Wii was the most fun I've ever had with a Dragonball game! Kinda sad Sparking Zero is not announced for the Switch. Would happily sacrifice graphics for motion control fighting.
I woke up, picked up my phone and this was the first thing I saw in the morning At first reading the official message I was like "huh what am I reading" it just wasn't real for me Then scrolling through Twitter, reading people who were close to him and his fans sharing their emotions... I literally cried for 30 minutes I even have a weird feeling in my guts looking at my figures and manga collection RIP Akira Toriyama, the GOAT, our HERO 🌟💫 I can't remember how I found out about Dragon Ball but with 2 older brothers, I had no right on deciding what's on TV and they WANTED Dragon Ball, it must have been OG Dragon Ball though, I feel like either Red Ribon army, Tenshinhan tournament or King Piccolo arc 😅 My most eraly memory is me being proud of my Dragon Ball Z shirt with Gohan as a Oozaru when I was in Kindergarden (max. 5 years old which I got from my Godfather (RIP)), also had Gohan bedsheets and around that time I also had my first volume, volume 16, Goku VS Piccolo in the 23rd tenkaichi budokai which I read while my mother was watching TV lol Then with time came the Budokai games, legacy of Goku, Budokai Tenkaichi/Sparking etc. all while collecting the manga and watching the anime to this day... Well I stopped my DB hype from 2018 to 2023, couldn't handle DBS anymore byt got full back to it in October
I discovered Dragon Ball when I was in Middle School and it was shown on Nicktoons and when it showed the movies I was amazed to see more Dragon Ball kind of lost me at GT but it was still enjoyable nonetheless
worst way to start off 2024 but i’d say my favorite arc gotta be the cell arc because it felt like terminator meets dbz when I was a kid and I loved it my favorite movie gotta be Broly The Legendary Super Saiyan
I’ve been a huge Dragon bowl fan since since my childhood as well I actually met Chris Weitz and egg and an apple scones. Shamu those are the voices of Judah and Goku and I have a dragon ball number for Dragon bowl with the red case and they both signed the box and I am on the real it’s only getting better.
I used to sneak outta bed at night to watch dragonball z on toonami... I'd buy the vhs tapes they had like 3 or 4 episodes each but each series the outside case when u put them I. Order made a picture I still have them almost all of them missing acouple from the buu series
we Mexicans love DBZ so much that a team of awesome dudes made a Latin American Spanish version of DBZ Tenkaichi Budokai 3 and now there is an unofficial Part 4 of the game which is just the same 3 but modded to make it look new and has all the characters from 3 plus all-new characters from Super and it's amazing, I downloaded on my PC with the PS2 emulator
Chris, I want you to know that your not alone. Dragon ball's impact is just as amazing as the series itself. Here's a free hug 🫂 RIP Akira Toriyama #AkiraToriyama #DragonBall Muchas gracias for your videos!
I'm not a dragonball fan personally. I just never grew up with it but I am a HUGE anime fan! Dragonball was a huge push for anime in the West and anime in general. It's a huge Legacy to leave on the world!
not everybody is a dragon ball fan.....just 80% of geeks around the whole world , this man was beloved even outside the anime/manga community, thanks for all the memories Toriyama sensei.
“DON’T be afraid. Death is simply *ANOTHER* part of our lives” -- Guru, Dragon Ball.
May Toriyama rest in peace. He was essentially the father of the shonen genre with how many staples he created. He may be gone, but his legacy will continue for a long, long time.
Let's contemplate how all of this came out of a single man imagination and talent, truly a master mind.
