I got to be honest, I think you get closer to the SRV tone than anyone I've ever heard. It's impressive, I love SRV, but his tone isn't my style, but you're very enjoyable to listen to.
In May 2023 I put a set of the JCs in my 89 Strat Plus; replacing Blue and Silver Lace Sensors. I’ve had this guitar for 30+ years and they absolutely gave me the tone and look that I wanted to hear. I was very curious about the #1s in comparison; they’re very close sounding here; but I personally like the JCs I think! I would urge you to consider including the covers….my set included covers but it seems new sets don’t? That’s unfortunate for those that have Lace Sensor type pups….Thank you. Great demo!
I found my set of Number Ones lacked much of the dynamic low end you ascribed at 13:00, not that I didn’t enjoy them. I found they had all sorts of chime but were light on thump. They’d make for great Lenny tones installed in a maple boarded strat though. Your description of that JC set, however, I do agree with, and those pickups sound closer to SRV’s Texas Flood tone than the former. $579 stateside is too dear at the moment for me, but I do have my Number Ones installed in a loaded pick guard listed on Reverb. Perhaps after today they’ll sell quickly and I can buy those JCs. Anyway, ‘tis a great video, cheers.
Number ones are my favorite strat pickup. Ive had some really great ones, sliders, kingtone bluebirds, dingwalls. Cant go wrong with any of those, but the mark foleys work the best with my set up. Big ass strings, high action and huge frets help too
I have a Lincoln Brewster with area 58 neckin middle and an area 61 on the bridge. One of the finest guitars i've ever played, and these are noiseless pickups, I also have an ultra that comes with pop noiseless pickups, and they are engraved as such
Brother, I have the same ax. It's pearl white with a Maple. Neck and fretboard, and you're right. This area, sixty one at the bridge with the special connection rules
Really enjoy the content John makes with his playing…more of you please.
Ever since I put those #1 pups in my custom shop Strat, I’ve never felt the need for anything else - they’re so good

That sunburst Strat sounds great, but it also looks great. The relicing looks fantastic! Not crazy over the top relic. It’s perfect
Agree

Sounding great, John!

The burst strat sounds better to my ears.
Area fifty eight at the neck and center area sixty one at the bridge
Awesome. But nothing compares to that Jimi tone you had with the big 60s head stock a month or two ago.. that was killer.. the one that got away..
That was a great guitar. I had a lot more in the chain for that one, plus it was a lot louder!
@@PeachGuitars one of Dale's finest
I need new pickups because my Strat sounds like number 2😂
Great video
Thanks!
Excellent …
How do you set the pickup height? The same on both?
Yeah, same!
I like the pick ups in butter better
#1 or JP/JC for an ash strat? I know ash is brighter.
JP/JC
It's your camera 😂😂😂
Butter better for me
What about the elmacombo ones mark did for you guys also? I’m so confused
That set is now the "Number One" set seen (and heard) in this video! You can find them here: shorturl.at/DgFUE
