The Japanese originals are well worth checking out. Some of Minnie's best work.
I think that, even if they weren't the main writers of the English version of "oh my god", it certainly captures the essence of the Korean version and probably says more than they would have been allowed to in Korean. Also, Minnie and Yuqi both know enough English to have been able to speak up if they thought there was a problem with the lyrics.
It's interesting how they do their foreign language versions - Yuqi wrote and produced the Chinese version of Hwaa and it sounds amazing. I think they tend to go better than a lot of other language versions done by other groups, mainly because they usually don't just translate it, but take the original ideas and feeling bit almost treat it like a new song. In the behind the scenes for the Chinese Hwaa, Shuhua describes Yuqi's writing as poetry. It wasn't until I saw a Korean react to the original and get really excited about how poetic it is in Korean that I realised how relevant Shuhua's comment was. A direct translation wouldn't have conveyed the same effect.
Maybe is literally my favourite GIDLE song, it's so underrated and Soojin OWNS it.

In Maybe, the lines that begin “ Ireoghe… “ are actually Shuhua singing and not Soyeon. Lyric videos all get this wrong but when they perform it on stage it’s more clearly Shuhua’s part.
Whaaat?! They sound so similar! That's why they said Shuhua can imitate soyeon's and Soojin's (I think) voices. I also thought that Idle song by Soyeon (pre-debut) had Shuhua singing in it. When the lyrics goes "Need something fresh" I though that was Shuhua!!
Hwaa have both a English and Chinese version, both are beautiful. There is also a bts of the chinese recording which is worth a watch.
I love both versions of Oh My God, but the English version is so gay and it's amazing.
Idle have one of the best English versions of the songs
Oh my god came out right as the pandemic started. The whole album was planned as the headliner for their world tour. Welp...
have you listened to their I Never Die album? i’m pretty sure the only albums you have left is that one and I Burn and also the Japanese songs :)
