I'm not wheelchair bound yet, but my arthritis wouldn't let me get into the city from the parking lot. Videos like this are amazing to get to see places wheelchairs wouldn't even fit.
It is just so… awe inspiring…to know, that 2,000 years ago, SOMEONE, was standing in the same spot you are, touching the same building, it’s like a connection to those people. Thanks for the great video.
Yeah, it is huge. You can spend all day walking around and not see it all...which is why it is good to not visit on a scorching hot day. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching.
on this particular walk, behind the forum is a building called the comitiumed edifici municipali, within that structure lies the house of geometrics. that is well worth looking at. The mosaics are brilliantly put together.
It's so quiet and serene. I also appreciate that you don't add music or dialogue. It makes the experience of watching the walkthrough more immersive. Thank you for the terrific videos.
I honestly had no idea pompeii was so expansive. I have read where there is still a significant amount underground and I guess I assumed there were only a couple of buildings above ground for tourists. Absolutely amazing!
I went twice there ! I am from Greece ! Life in Greece before 50 years it used to be the same like the homes in the ruins in Pompeii I am coming from a small village so i recall many things i saw in Pompeii with my grandparents home in a Greek village 50 years ago ! Its amazi g how lottle life changed for millenia and suddenly the last 50 years everything change in the south of europe ! Great video of course
Same with Israel, my country. All the villages used to look like this and many still do. My grandparents lived in Kfar Giladi close to Lebanon before moving to Tel Aviv after the war, and all the buildings were built of stone in this style, just like this.
I truly appreciate this mini-documentary of Pompeii. It had allowed me to experience this place. Despite this was a virtual visit, I could still perceive the wavelengths of that tragedy, the pain, stress, desperation, and the overwhelming brink of death. I think that because of these, it is better if I never set foot in there. 😔
If I was an inhabitant of Pompeii a few months before the 79 A.D. eruption of Mt Vesuvius, and I heard unusually loud rumbling, would I have saved myself and all others by deserting the city? Most likely not because the people must have believed the volcano to be already extinct.
When I last visited Pompeii, there were some really cute and friendly stray dogs walking around the site. They sometimes walk with groups of tourists as if they're guiding you lmaoo. Our guide said Pompeii also had a lot of stray dogs back in the day, and you can think of the stray dogs as a common factor connecting the past and the present
Great video. I've always wanted to visit Pompeii. I especially want to thank you for stopping to let the viewers appreciate all the artifacts. Great job!
Awesome video as usualy ...... you're doing a huge favor for the people that can not be there for what ever reason by doing that virtual walk ( with music or with out doesn't matter ) ...... thank you for that ...... all the best ......
Stranded NYer ...... I'll be going there for sure next year no questions asks ..... I must be there plus a few more close cities close POMPEII ....... but if you're going have a nice trip ..... enjoy ......

Hey thank you. I think on that day the main ticket office was closed so i bought my ticket at the other entrance and then ran back to the main entrance and entered there with my ticket. Everyone else was on the other end of the town.

Yeah, I have my Gopro on selfie stick that extends 3ft which comes in handy at times. So far I have only posted up about an hour and half of a 5 hour walk. I am working on getting the entire 5 hour walk posted up as one video right now. I'm glad the walk makes you feel like you were there....that is why I don't film myself at all. :) Who'd want to watch me walk around Pompeii? :)
Well, I'm watching part 3 right now, and just finished that baths, and I'm enjoying walking around with you quite a bit! ;-) By the way, the shots of the bodies right after this part were actually heartbreaking. Especially the kid and the dog.
Such an excellent tour of Pompeii! Thank you for providing it. I have been dreaming of going for years and have not been able to yet. Always felt I had lived there in a past life maybe. Very moving to see all of it so clearly and peacefully without feeling rushed. Thank you so much ! 🙏👏👍
We were on a tour and rushed through, thank you for your tour. I found the white stones or tiles imbedded in the road very clever. We were told the white stones were to help walkers see the road on moon lit nights.
Yeah, I recently went there for the first time to learn my way around. I'll be going there as soon we get some nice weather. It is super interesting and much more well preserved than Pompeii.
+Mike Hipp hey Mike, I somehow missed your reply until now... But yes, I will be going there a few days from now to film a walk. It should turn out pretty nice I think. I am mapping it out right now.
A MA ZING! I went to Pompeii about fifteen years ago it is so large you can not get round it all and you are amazed at the fact that it is so quite there simply because people are spread out because of the expanse of the place. Thank you for that.
Wonderful. We spent 4 intense hours of walking here and didn’t come close to seeing everything. Amazed at the lack of crowds in your video. Intrigued by the shadows of you and your Go Pro cast on the byways. Good job
This is amazing, I’ve always been amazed by Pompeii. Hopefully one day I can travel there, but for now these awesome videos will do. Thanks so much for making these😊
Just thinking of the greatest work done by archeologists, it's really unbelievably great. Thank them and you for the possibility to see and admire the faraway past that is so near at hand
Thank you so much sir, being a teacher of history, this is my special area of interest, will never be able to afford to go from india, thank you once again
Also, across the road from the lupanare is the house of Siricus. There are so many things to see in Pompeii ( over 60 ) that are being missed on these walks but, given the vastness of pompeii, its easily done.

I have been to Pompeii this April 2019 because it was one day before Easter huge crowds and many of the houses of interest were closed I wish to express my thanks for the wonderful videos that offered me the chances to see part of what I missed you need minimum 2 full days to see all if you are lucky and most houses are opened for visiting....:)
Hey, glad you enjoyed it. I have more of Pompeii to post up.... But... I'm getting quite a backlog of walks that need to get posted. Yeah, a crowded Pompeii is not as much fun.
Agreed So much better than having some superfluous editing or distracting soundtrack To hear the background noise of nature along with the people walking among the ruins makes for much better immersion & point of view. It’s eerie and solemn It’s a historical marvel that gives us an unparalleled glimpse into history and how they lived in the ancient Roman empire. We must also remember the human tragedy. They were covered in volcanic ash and gases. We owe them respect as they suffered that day. The beneficial byproduct to the tragedy was it froze the city and preserved it for posterity. It is utterly amazing. It’s amazing how advanced they were. They has fast food vendors and public baths. They lived better than most of humanity that followed the next 2000 years almost up until modern times. It is incredible and a captivating artifact of antiquity. I have been to Rome and Florence but wasn’t able to make it to Pompeii or Herculaneum. Have to go one day. Thanks for taking these wonderful videos and sharing them with everyone.

My biggest dream would be to go back in the past and visit these places at their peak. Thanks a lot for this video. If you visit without a guide, can you still learn a lot?
Yeah, it would really be incredible just to see one photo of how it actually looked. I have never been there with a guide. There are some signs and labels but not nearly as much as you'd like. You almost need to go twice. Once to explore and once to learn what it is your are seeing.

I'm curious as to what was the "feeling" being there? Perhaps you were too busy filming to notice. I remember going to Versailles and absolutely feeling the history of it. These places hold so much energy.

Such a great, modern city ! Such a beautiful, peaceful video ! Took me to two thousand yrs back .It can be imagined, how busy this city was.And it can be imagined, that life of the common people was not easy in ancient times also. Lastly, I think that silence is the best means by which we are taken to the past. A time travel !
I would like to take this time to thank the camera person whom is doing the virtual walk and filming Pompeii. This film is very interesting GREAT! Enjoying it. I would never had had the opportunity to go to such a place Again Thank you.!
Such great captions and your camera work is the best I've seen. Some videos by other camera operators have made me a bit queasy. So I very much appreciate your efforts.
Hi Donna, I am really glad to hear the videos are easy to watch. It too me a while to realize what movements work and don't work. I'm still learning, but I think they have improved over the last few years. I might go to Pompeii again next week, just to film it while it is empty of all tourists. Hopefully the weather gets better soon.
kudos for you making this and kudos for the time it took to use that camera. I've seen many vids but the camera work while you are walking is fantastic.
Thanks dave! I had more Pompeii videos to post up but one file had an error on it so I never ended up finishing the tour. I might just have to skip that section and finish it up. Thanks for watching!
Amei o seu vídeo. Você conseguiu captar muitos detalhes. Me senti como se estivesse caminhando junto com você. Experiência maravilhosa. Muito grata. Parabéns!!!!🥰
Ty for sharing your adventures and videos with us ALL. I appreciate you sharing your time, as, I myself will never be able to visit there in Real time. Very interesting and visually pleasing, to join you in the video. Happy 2020 from NY State 🏞
Well done great walk through of Pompeii brought back a few memories of my two trips there but this film showed me what I had missed! I want to get one of these cameras could you please tell me what it is as it sure beats the old Panasonic cassette cameras by far.
Hey Ken, I am currently using a Gopro Hero 7 Black. I highly recommend it. The 7 is way better than the 6 so don't buy a 6 if you were to find one on sale or used for a good price. Buy a 128GB card (Samsung EVO Plus) and maybe a simple telescoping pole (Smatree Y2 Telescoping Pole) and a few extra batteries (MIBOTE Rechargeable Battery 3 Pack). One of the many great things about the Gopro is that you never have to worry about focus. Just turn it on and it looks great every time. *Low light can be good but it takes a little tweaking. Overall, I love the camera...very simple to use...voice activated, "Gopro, Turn on"..."Gopro, Start recording" etc. You can take it anywhere...and it doesn't matter if you drop it or take it out in the rain. You can't hurt it. ......except for maybe scratching the lens...but it is replaceable. You won't regret it.
Very good video as I had never seen before. Made me feel as if I was walking in person in that astonishing and beautiful place. Keep up doing the good job. My friend. .!! Muy bonito video Como nunca antesvisto me hizo sentir Como si yo estuviera caminando en persona en ese asombr.oso y bello lugar gracias amigo.
I like your videos. Maybe you or someone can answer this. How much of the masonry is the original from 2000 years ago? I noticed windows and doorways have large 4x12 headers overhead. It's understandable why this was done but then what about the block and stonework above those headers? Was that replaced with new stonework or did they slip those headers in without disturbing the overhead stones.
Gostei muito do jeito que você fez esse vídeo, parece que eu estava andando por aí, porque pessoalmente pra mim é quase impossível ir nesse lugar. Parabéns!!!
Wow! What a huge city! Absolutely beautiful! Still can’t get over the stone beds. Good grief hope they had blankets n hay to lay on. That hurt my back just thinking about sleeping on them much less anything else lol. Keep up the videos!!!!
This video was such a delight, thank you so much for not ruining it with some idiotic music.... If ever you could call a place a "ghost town " then this is it,so many innocent lives lost 🙏🕯😔

Ohjhh I'm sure someone somewhere makes "off-road" tires and/or wheelchairs. And if they don't.....patent!
Hey, glad you enjoyed it.
I can relate. I'm homebound. But ain't it great to travel vicariously?! We don't have to pay airfare or rent cars.

Hi, you're welcome! I have more Pompeii walks to post up but other walks keep taking priority. I'm glad you enjoyed the walk. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for giving us that few extra seconds at each scene.
Thank you very much. I really wanna visit Pompeii. However, I still don't have a chance yet. This video is like a guideine for me before visiting. 🙏
Thanks for sharing ,i was there last year this is beautiful
thank you so much for this tour. I will never see this in person, not possible. So thank you so much
Amei o seu vídeo. Você conseguiu captar muitos detalhes. Me senti como se estivesse caminhando junto com você. Experiência maravilhosa. Muito grata. Parabéns!!!!🥰
Very nicely filmed. I like that it’s quiet too. Adding music can be distracting. Thank you for posting this video. I feel like I’ve been there now.
Great! That's the idea. :)
This is very fascinating place and really thanks for the video you made just awesome work i feel like I'm walking through this place.
Hey, no problem. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll have a full 4 hour Pompeii walking coming out soon. Working on it now.
What a beautiful turquoise blue sky!
Thank you for not talking during your filming. God bless you.
You've done incredible job filming the city! Thank you!
your tours are lovely man great job thank you!
Ty for sharing your adventures and videos with us ALL. I appreciate you sharing your time, as, I myself will never be able to visit there in Real time. Very interesting and visually pleasing, to join you in the video. Happy 2020 from NY State 🏞
Thank you so much!!! It is very beautifull and you made an awesome work!!
This was a great tour, I don't think I will be able to visit this place so thank you for the next best thing!😊

Thank you, '-)
Fantastico! Grazie mille for getting up at dawn before the hordes arrived.
Thank you for the walk through journey. 👍👍
You are very welcome. Thanks for watching.
