Honestly having a disability that isn't super visible is terrible. I have a bad back, and when I say bad back I mean I worked manual labor and ruptured multiple disks in my back and have permanent muscle spasms. I am in constant excruciating pain. Yet I'm only 31, I "look" fine. I always joke that I wish I had actual bones sticking out of my back at least then people would understand me visually. Even doctors sometimes ignore me when I end up in pain, haven't slept in 48 hours and I go to the ER, they mark me down as a probable drug addict seeking pain meds.. fun.
Maybe you aren't versed in disability rights - but I'm REALLY glad you came forward about having them. Visibility of disabled people is SO important within the leftist community because it's something so often overlooked to the detriment of everyone whether they know it or not.
Hope everything goes well and you take care of yourself! Being disabled shouldn't have to be so difficult. I think so many people unfortunately discount their disabilities and don't think they're "disabled enough"
It's so good to hear from you. Sorry you've been dealing with all of this. I hope your surgery went well. Thanks for making this video to talk about invisible disabilities.
I agree with you whole heartedly on the profit incentives in healthcare. Would much rather be in the hands of someone who wants to help and sees you as a person, rather than someone who sees you as a job to pay the bills, or a paycheck.
I so very much hope your surgery goes well and brings relief. Missing deep sleep is indeed wrecking... so i will keep my fingers crossed, sending you all best wishes and energy. Being reduced to a "talking head" myself over the past +10y now, your story was so recognisable. Doctors too often use Ockham's raser. (Easiest explanation is the right one, as if someone with depression is suddenly immune for a bunch of other diseases 🙄) Anyhow, i could imagine the rant. I live in a country with public health-care too, but here it's also more and more profit driven (EU). A sad story. Those things are making it harder - i hope and wish you have some ppl alongside to "fight the system" with and for you, bc it takes so much energy... energy you predominantly now need to get better. Take all the time and care you need!! And know there is a silent, caring supporter thinking of and rooting for you.🧡 (And without doubt, many like me ) Thanks for your strenght on sharing this. 🤞💞
The state will not recognize my disability (ocd/ptsd/schizotypal personality/adhd) because i am intelligent and can remember 3 words for 5 minutes while answering questions a 4 year old could answer and impress their aunts and uncles. Im sorry you are living with this in such a brutal system. My lungs are fucked now too and im getting an x ray bone spurs 🎊 I have to use a $600 daily inhaler to breathe.... Its great.
You are worth more than your productivity. If you cant tolerate working or daily life for whatever reason, it means its time for analysis and communication... Not feelings of guilt tied to a sense of a lack of uselessness or stagnation.. I love you
This video has made me consider that the diagnostic criteria for sleep apnoea actually fit me really well. I’m going to talk to my GP about it. This could be the key to why I’ve been feeling so crappy the last few years, so thanks.
Please don't let them talk you out of getting the test. There are some obvious physical characteristics that correlate with these disorders. Sadly, many doctors will overlook or refuse to consider their existence in anyone who doesn't look the part. I'm not selling the product here, but I wonder if the data from a Fitbit combined with logs of the times you laid down and got up would be compelling. Unfortunately sleep studies are pretty expensive, But I have a friend who was completely nonfunctional who finally got diagnosed and saw a night and day difference.
My parents were both fucked over by the oh-so-perfect Canadian health system for their invisible disabilities, so I definitely feel this. Here's hoping your surgery's successful.
I hope by now you're doing world's better and I just wanted to say thank you for the tip on demanding a doc write down the refusal to do a test. Part of the problem can be knowing that something is even wrong. I learned that I was asthmatic in my late 30s, and only then because I had transitioned and looked more like a guy at first glance. It turns out that when a man comes into the ER and is having trouble breathing, the first thing they do is... check whether or not he can breathe. I hadn't really understood that other people who were breathing hard after running didn't feel like their lungs were on fire. I just assumed people who ran for fun were masochists?
I hope your surgery helps. I'm going through some sleep stuff myself and even though it's a fraction of what you have, it's hell. Best of luck, friend.
it's good to see you, but it's better to know that if im not seeing you it's because you're addressing your health. i have apnea while awake but not asleep due to a movement disorder in my neck, and in a month im getting all the usual sleep apnea surgeries all at once a month from now (it can treat my problem too). everything they've already done has helped too, so it really does work. relief is possible.
Vertigo sucks. I started getting it when I was in my mid-twenties; I woke up one day and was so dizzy I threw up this yellow bile (because my stomach was empty) every time I tried to move. Some days I would wake up, and just barely tilting my head causes my eyes to start rolling around uncontrollably (making the room spin) and the nausea to set in. I have to carry meclizine on me at all times, but luckily it's cheap and works really well. Just looking at something moving makes me start to feel the onset, so I take it and it starts working after a few minutes. I don't know what causes my vertigo. I have had tinnitus all of my life too, and obviously the vertigo is an inner ear issue, but I've never seen a specialist and other doctors just prescribed the meclizine to treat the symptom. All that is to say, I understand your pain, and I both empathize and sympathize. I have to take some meclizine now, because just thinking about it enough to describe it here makes me feel nauseated. I have nothing I can offer to help you other than letting you know that you aren't alone, comrade. Peace and love; get well soon.
8:17 - wow, wtaf??!? That suuuuccckkkks!!! I'm so sorry you weren't getting believed, proper tests, and proper treatment, which....... Do you have a CPAP machine yet?!?? ... oh, 15:01... well, I hope it was (by now, I'm guessing) effective for you, and that it allows you to get better sleep! If you end up still having issues, I highly recommend trying to get a CPAP machine. I frankly kinda hate the things, in a way, and I especially hated when I didn't really have a good mask fit... but I eventually got something better, and while I still sort of hate it, I love how much better able to sleep I am with it. Solidarity, comrade. Let us know if there's support you need!
I: So, how did the surgery go? Are you doing better? Thank you for making this video despite it putting your job on line. Disability is an important and under-talked topic. (This meatsack is more or less an "abled" body, so I´m sorry if I shouldn´t be speaking on others´ behalf ^^;)
Please understand that there is no left and no right. There is only people. Left and right are constructed divisions which far too many people subscribe to. I am neither but I know many would label me more 'right'. We 'working class' and even middle and upper class, have more in common with each other, no matter how we're labeled, than with those who profit from our labelling of each other.
Person first language isn’t helpful. Disabled people is the correct term. However thanks for making this, solidarity with another disabled leftist creator.

Thanks for bringing up disability! We're easily sidelined amidst the everyday struggles of the working class.
I hope your surgery was successful!
Hope everything goes well and you take care of yourself!

I hope your surgery goes/went well and you can get improved quality of life!
It's so good to hear from you. Sorry you've been dealing with all of this. I hope your surgery went well. Thanks for making this video to talk about invisible disabilities.
I hope your surgery is successful and you are able to gain some semblance of normal sleep soon
Sending love, Bread Beard. ❤️

You can ask them to put it in their notes and also say you will find another dr
Good luck man, wishing you well on the surgery. Loved hearing your voice again ❤️ Godspeed, and may we see more of you soon.

Glad to see you're at least keeping on, that can be hard enough, Joshbeard.

Sorry to hear all that. Best of luck going forward.

hope your health improves comrade
Best of luck to you
Inner ear issues are really scary and often misunderstood by the medical community
Hard relate but in the US :/ thanks for making this

Hey, how have you been doing after surgery? No videos are a sign that you are not well?
