I agree I liked Squid Game but this show story telling is just on another level. Seeing Ji-Woo fighting and seeing her get tossed around Han So-Hee did all her own stunts, it just adds so much realism. There isn’t a character that I didn’t like. This is how you make a strong female character the right way.
I also agree that it’s better than Squid Games, both are top tier Korean dramas and arguably different, but there’s just something about the acting, directing, music, and plot that makes My Name take the cake for me. Can’t wait for your reaction to episode 8!! Notifs ON lol

UGH I LOVE THESE SERIES... it makes me feel so much. I love that it isn't like good vs bad. Choi Mujin is a bad guy in the end but he is such a complex villain character. He really cared for Jiwoo's dad as his best friend and cared for Jiwoo like his daughter.
*It only took me 7 full episodes to realize why this show is called "My Name"... Then I was mindblown.*
I agree this is better than squid game! The story line is just insane! And the fact that the main character is a woman like we love to see it. But im sad we’re near the end:(
Mujin is one of my favorite characters EVER. You know you should hate him for the things he did but you also feel his pain and guilt... so you can't

Long time k-drama viewers see My Name as 'K-drama Clift Notes'. A (typical) 16 episode drama condensed into 8, character development streamlined, cliff hangers immediately followed by resolutions. Plus those time-honored K-drama plot twists that, to newbies, would be startling and original. For a *full-size* K-drama watch 'Stranger' or 'Misty' or 'Signal' or 'Mother' or 'W' or 'Secret Affair'
I appreciate that you were brave to give your honest opinion about how you were experiencing My Name and trusted your viewers to accept your authenticity. I also enjoyed it so much I have it higher in my personal preference than SG. As with your tone of personal opinion, I won't pronounce one show absolutely better than the other because it doesn't need to be a contest and each show was a different story -- apples to oranges - - each of high quality story telling with compelling themes and characters. This is only everyone's right to their own subjective wiring to like one or the other show more, equally, or differently. I respect the complexities of the themes, storytelling task that SG had that required good writing, mix of multiple character arcs in an agile narrative. However I found I had to brace myself to start each SG episode, and My Name was simply a great ride my personal triggers to root for the underdog (regardless of gender) -- I was hooked at the very moment in ep1 where she is shown sitting at her vandalized desk in the empty classroom early in the morning (early to avoid humiliating hallway encounters with other students).

I can't watch Squid Game again although I really enjoyed the series, but I can easily re-watch my name multiple times for the action scenes..
