I remember i went to this small store in minnesota and i was wearing my Dont Break the Oath jacket and the owner was like "oh i like metal! Ill put these guys on because i havent heard of them" (something along the lines of that to me) and he played this song in the store

I knew I could learn something from metal. Like I learned Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Dune from Maiden, HP Lovecraft from Metallica and so on. Metal is the ultimate nerd music.
I saw Mercyful Fate on their 9 tour back in '99, at the House of Blues in Chicago, I got to meet Hank Sherman. IT WAS AMAZING! Hail King Diamond 🤘 God of black metal
I met King Diamond at an airport Paris. Very cool dude! I asked him who his influences were and was surprised when he mentioned several American R&B, funk and soul bands. You can sort of hear it in his music.
Was he wearing his trademark makeup or just wearing dark glasses and a mustache? Dream on, dream on ... The King does not fly on airplanes, he moves through the air on the wings of Satan.But I have to tell you, dude, that you had a funny and very strange dream. Ha-ha.

IMO, Alice Cooper's "Welcome to My Nightmare" album is King Diamond's biggest influence, and it's especially apparent in his first few solo albums.
Why is there so much denial? WTF? You guys have never been to Europe. American R&B music is extremely popular. You can hear lots of Earth Wind and Fire snippets in many of King Diamond's bass lines.

Venom and Merciful Fate/King Diamond was the main influence of "Norwegian Black Metal" images and look was inspired from. No doubt about it. twas1980 when they were first came about.
Celtic Frost/Hellhammer, Bathory and Sarcafago were also major players in the development of Norwegeian Black Metal as well.
Seen this tour !! Outside the venue was the bus with them all just sitting there. I looked in and gave a thumbs up and Hank gave it back. My favorite band of all time.
