EXCELLENT REVIEW OF THE RONIN 2! I'm quite late to the Yojimbo, Yojumbo, and Ronin 2 Family, but I'm planning to get one of each over time. I wasn't sure if I wanted the fixed Ronin 2, but after watching your video - I definitely do! Thanks for taking the time to make this video and for all the great education!😊👍
Great explanation of the Ronin and Yojimbo design. Picked mine up a couple months back. Yes, in Kali lol: 5,8 & 9 🗡️😎 I do believe I saw a little Dirk Pinkerton folding blade appearance briefly, as well.... 🤔
Hi, just wanted to let you know, the Felony Stop was actually a design by Laci Szabo, the same guy behind the Spyderco Szabofly and Szabo folder. I remember a long time ago, he used to sell a bunch of his own unique/crazy fighting knife designs on his website, which were small-batch made by custom knife makers. Unfortunately, they are all gone now and he didn't keep an archive of all his design, but they were truly interesting. I'm pretty sure he has a strong relationship with James A. Keating and Fred Perrin as well.
Very cool knife! I'll go along with the Seax reference. It's definitely not exact, but it does have that shape. A modern version of it fits imho. You can recognize the Janich design right away....no question about that, lol. Speaking of Seax..I just got a really cool one. A more traditional version. I put up a short clip of it on IG, and a vid here on the tube if you want to see a very cool one. It's like one a tribal chief might have carried. Doubtful a commoner would own one this fancy. Sorry if that comes across as a shameless plug to drive traffic my way. I normally don't make a post like this.. Just figured if you like the Seax, you would like this one.
You'd like the spyderco street beat bowie. I have the street beat bowie and the street bowie. For a 5 inch blade the street bowie carries very well. The street beat bowie with a 3.5 inch blade carries even better. How heavy is the Ronin?
Spyderco site tells me that Ronin 2 has 2mm longer blade than YoJumbo. Seems they are lying. YoJumbo has significantly longer and overall larger blade.
I ordered a Kydex sheath on the internet for this knife but they said it's like 10 to 14 days before they can get it out I wish they would have told me that before I paid for it I might have searched around a little more anyway I agree with you I like that clam shape for me I like it because when you draw the blade in and out you're not dragging your sharpened edge against Kydex are plastic when is a u-shaped so to speak and it's riveted your blade is towards the riveted in your drawing out in the blade never touches anything because those are two pieces of plastic squeeze together I prefer that always!
The best in looks department out of three is the Yojumbo. Why didn't they just make a 100% yojumbo shape intu the fixed blade as a ronin. Or the other option is the ronin 1 design with longer overall dimension in s35vn. Ronin 1 is a masterpiece of wharncliffe fixed blade. Iam sorry Janich the ronin 2 is so ugly.
I think you’re spot on with your modern seax terminology. It’s the same shape but a realistic size for modern times.
Excellent fixie! Great video!!!

Thanks Dave, I tried, cramped my brain trying to explain!

Argh-- I knew that once. Thanks for the info. I used to love going to his website to look at all of his insane designs. He needs to make a return!

Very good video…. I have this blade , + both Yojimbo, and Yojumbo
I do wish it was thicker blade wise and jimping on the spine of the blade . Things can slip when wet
Such a beautiful knife. Unfortunately only spyderco I own is 2 of the "matriarch 2s"
Matriarch is awesome, sell one and buy a Ronin!
@@TheKnifeJunkie it has crossed my mind.
Beautiful like fire
Great review 👍
Thanks! 👍
Love that knife myself. Can’t remember if you have looked at the nightstick or not. Another defensive knife with thin handles.
Not yet, I'd love to check out a double edged version of the Nightstick, if one exists.
Awesome video and you got me interested in this one!
great vid on it .... Hopefully I can grab a street bowie on the Gathering.... 👍
Oh yeah, that seems right up your alley!

How does it cut?? Why not do any testing with it??

I agree with the Seax part for sure. The name "Ronin" of this knife is wrong imo.
Seax flavor in my opinion.
Even tho this knife is almost the same like yojumbo, yojumbo seems way more aesthetically pleasing
Like mine but it needs jimping
I never mind jimping, though on the Ronin (for me) its absence is not a deal breaker.

The sheath could be better .the knife is awesome

Are you selling this or maybe trade? @theknifejunkie
Yes/no?
