@@tbd407 Nothing if you're a normal person, these guys have been touring, performing and making albums most of those 40 years. The toll of the travel itself would be huge for even people in their prime
Yess new Metallica on the way. Since you’re checking out their new material, you should check out, “Spit Out The Bone”. It’s off their 2016 album and FULL of energy throughout the entire song. Also a GREAT song to work out to with insane instrumentals
Love seeing a group of young men who have been discovering Metallica, receive the treat of reacting to a brand new song! As an old head Metallica fan, this reaction brought a real smile to my face! Go see em live while you can.
Hi..please do a reaction on an Indonesian singer named Cakra Khan.. he did an amazing cover for Tennessee whiskey.. and the other is a fingerstyle guitarist named Alip Ba Ta.. very talented. !!
Y'all really should catch a live show if you can. There's nothing like a live Metallica show. The unison in the chanting and sing-along is really unlike any other band I've seen. The energy is so tight you could power the world if you could harness it.
@Joe dirty71 Congrats on your differing opinion. You realize it's entirely subjective. I've seen more than 20 bands of all types. I stand by what I say about the audience connection.
@Joe dirty71 I've seen Slipknot a few times. They're very good. Having a different opinion doesn't matter it factual. You should really consider this before commenting further.
@Joe dirty71 In all seriousness , your smugness is off-putting & not humorous. These guys aren't diehard metal fans. They clearly like Metallica, who I would absolutely agree has slowed down with age as people do. Additionally, the tenor of their albums have changed over the last 20 years, which would necessarily change their live shows just as a new tour would focus on an album we haven't heard. Yet you speak with such confidence. I don't think you're capable of taking people's differences into account. I would never recommend a Slipknot show to a non-metal fan as their first show. The energy is too manic. It's obvious you won't reflect on yourself but for anyone reading this comment, don't take music advice from this guy. He isn't interested in your enjoyment of music but the correctness of his opinion.
Being a fan since the late 80's I'm honored to listen to this song for the first time with you guys. Love you're enthusiasm for a band that got me though alot of times, good and bad. Cheers my metal brothers!
The song seems a homage to metal as a whole. They're totally wearing their influences on their sleeves here. There are musical references all over the place in the riffs. Motorhead, Misfits, Judas Priest, just tons of familiar riffs. So it's a celebration of metal and how it will live forever, or lux aeterna. On top of that, they include the crowd as part of the life of the music so it's definitely intended to be played live.
When I first heard this tune the other night I was kinda torn, as far as my initial impression. Now a couple days have gone by and I have found myself repeatedly going back to listen to it, over and over. The chorus where James screams the song title is everything in this track. That and the kick drums. But just the way James climbs the ladder vocally to belt out the chorus is such an amazing hook. This almost feels like a sorta power metal almost-but-not-quite Dokken-type vibe meets British new wave meets sped-up Load riffage meets a more polished version of Hit the Lights. It's gonna be a go-to live song (the lyrics kinda reflect that) and the song's energy and the boys' own energy are undeniable. I can't explain it, but all I know is my ear loves it. I'm very happy Metallica is back with new tunes and I'm also very happy they kept the album under wraps so now it's arriving soon - to MY mind - rather than them announcing it 2 years out and then us playing the waiting game. These old dogs can still hunt.
the lyric "Lightning the Nation" is definitely a reference of Diamond Head and their album "Lightning to the Nations". Metallica are big fans of Diamond Head, even covered "Am I Evil" and "It's Electric" among others
it's amazing that these guys started in the mid 80s and still pumping strong! I have been a metallica fan since I knew who they were. to this day favorite album hands down master of puppets.
I'm going to both shows in Glendale, AZ!! Sept 1st & 3rd 2023! I cannot wait to see my favorite heavy metal band! 🤘🤘 40 plus years later and they are still killing it and going back to their OG sound, absolutely love it!! And I cannot wait for the new album! 🤘🤘
I got my tickets!!! Presale on Wednesday morning! They are playing 22 cities and only 12 in the US. I’m going to the St Louis show and taking my brother. I saw them 30 years ago in 1992 so this is a full circle bucket list to see them again! They are doing a 2 show concert in each city.. Friday night with Pantera opening and Metallica will play 15 songs, they take Saturday off and then they play Sunday with 5 Finger Death Punch opening and Metallica plays 15 different songs! 30 songs in all with different bands opening each night! We are front row seats facing the field in front of the band.. great seats! Cost me $789 but seeing Metallica with their new album, 30 years later with my brother.. priceless!! 😜🤘😎
We, human beings, have so much energy, especially created during the live concerts. It's literally, electric. A charge. We are living batteries. Learn to sun gaze. Love you guys. Thanks.
Shiiiiiiiiit....this sucker sounds like old school Metallica! Heavy Motorhead vibes on this bad boy. It comes in like lightning and doesn't let up! It keeps coming back for more!
Fellas, you guys are dope. I love the fact that yall smart, strong young men can see the other side of music, and see the brilliance of Metallica, one of the very greatest rock bands literally of all time. I love you guys and your honesty. much love from Seattle.
Watching you guys from your first couple Metallica reactions to this one is awesome, I think you are all metalheads now!!! Well done guys, just subscribed. Btw, it's Latin for Eternal Light
About the way he was holding his guitar upright during the solo, there are reasons for it. First obvious one is it looks cool. But more importantly, when holding a guitar standing, doing certain fingerings on the fretboard high up the neck can be difficult in a normal grip/stance, but it's much easier if the guitar is upright like that. You will notice many guitarists doing that upright thing when it's time to go high up the fretboard during a solo.
I’m so glad you reacted to this. I checked yesterday and no reactions. I was hoping you would have heard Metallica dropped a new song and it’s insane. I’m glad all 5 of you get to react to this. Go to Soldier Field in Chicago. 2024
This song is amazing. I'm an old school Metallica fan - havent really liked much after the black album, very few songs truly get me excited. This one for sure is I think their best one since "Give Me Fuel". Sounds like a blend of their newer stuff - while still sounding a bit thrash like their pre 1990 stuff.
I hadn’t heard this til I watched your vid! Cool song thanks guys Yeah, everyone’s got their favourite artists, as for me I’m a rock and metal guy. My favourite is the Guitarist Slash (try him out if you hadn’t by the way) But as far as Metallica goes, they seem to find that groove where they’re tough, heavy, but still have mass appeal. Something that many metal bands can’t seem to fine tune. There’s cool metal bands, I like those a lot too, but Metallica finds that sweet spot nearly every time
I'll be going to the Arlington shows - you get 2 different sets each night! Taking my 10 year old to his first show! I've been seeing Metallica since 1988 in concert lol
I love when younger guys like y'all get into a band that I've loved for over 30 years! Y'all were digging the music that made me a good drummer. Good on y'all! Love seeing that. Now you know what I grew up on. Lux AEtera means eternal light in Latin. Smart and aggressive. Express aggression through music. Make it positive. Make it productive. Don't insight violence. Honor God family and country and bring it in song. Good reaction my American brothers. Keep the music alive. 3 chords and the truth. Amen
72 Seasons is 18 years, our formidable years. We then turn 18 and realize that the way we were brought up the way we were molded by our parents and by society may not be who we really are. ( paraphrased from James Hetfield)
I am in complete agreement with all the people who said you guys should go check them out live next year. It really is an awesome experience. It will definitely, as you young ones say "be LIT!"
Maby listen to their previous album as well. Look for the song Moth into flame (my fav). Maby also Hardwired, Now that we're dead, Spit out the bone and Atlas rise. All from their Previous album. You guys listened to a lot of old stuff. New stuff is great too.
Remember to get back to the unforgiven trilogy after this! And also, after metallica y'all need to a deep dive into some of these bands - Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Saxon, Motorhead
Wow, almost 40 years after their first album release! These dudes are about 60 years old 🤘🤘🤘 🔥
They are at least 30 years old. But let's call it a solid 58 and 59.

Spit Out The Bone and St.Anger

Love spit out the bone! I’ve been a fan since the mid 80s and I absolutely love the hardwired album!
Love seeing a group of young men who have been discovering Metallica, receive the treat of reacting to a brand new song!
As an old head Metallica fan, this reaction brought a real smile to my face!
Go see em live while you can.
I concur, wholeheartedly
'Lightening the nation' refers to 'Lightning to the Nations' an album by the British band Diamond Head, who are a massive influence on Metallica.
They are true 🐐
go on & ignore the biggest sport event at this moment....
Can't wait for this album to drop!

Lars doing his best "Philthy Animal" on the drums!

Can’t wait for this album. Guys, do a reaction to Metallica’s “the thing that should not be”.
Come to Arlington! Me and my brother are going.
Crazy to think Metallica members are almost 60 years old.
And they still kick metal ass.
I could see them releasing songs and videos between now an April. That is how Hardwired....to self destruct was released!!!! #headbangersforlife
The undisputed Kings of Music strike again and the Globe rocks to that song 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
Learned to play this within 48 hours. I haven't done that since high school 20 years ago.

It does not seem like 6 years since Hardwired came out. Time flies.
I'm going to their concert!!
I think you guys would be fun to go to a concert with!

Lars did a bloody good job here🔥
Always does
Thanks! Love you guys. Keep the Metallica and Eminem rocking! Go Chiefs!!!
Lux Æterna is Latin for Everlasting Light or similar. Lux is he light that shines in the darkness and Æterna means eternal/everlasting/imperishable.
Metallica haven't sound this good in their whole career I think. They're kicking ass, this song is lit!
NEXT YEAR METALLICA WILL RECORDING, TOURING AND KICKING BUTTS FOR 42 YEARS!!! HOW AMAZING IS THAT??? IT'S FUCKING AWESOME GUYS!!!!! 🤘🏼🎶
18 years of build up of a character... 72 seasons. Very meaningful as always
Going to concert AT&T stadium in august. Tickets already bought.
Too fun. My kinda guys!
This was great!
Hell yea going to the arlington concert!!
I'm telling y'all, watch the video for their song "All Nightmare Long", and that'll be some of the craziest shit you've ever seen in your lives! LuLz
Sounds almost Kill Em All like. Definitely a throwback style. Not to bad.
I know I'm late to the party, but 72 seasons is a reference to the first 18 years of your life. It's apparently serving as a theme to the album.
Y’all need to come see them. I’m going to Phoenix shows in September. Lux Aeterna. Means eternal light.
Im gonna try to go to Arlington's concert! Depending on ticket prices.
Yesss….go see Metallica live before before you can’t, there old, but don’t underestimate their live show…they still bring it!!!
"That is lit" couldn't be more accurate lol
