it wasn't just phil being worse, it was Rhoden being really good.

Looking back, his gut was just one issue. Phil is so gifted in his muscle bellies but not so much with his narrow structure. 18 and 20 he lost so much of that roundness and fullness, his weakness really does show unfortunately. I think its everything combined that costed him

The 2 versions are almost identical. The truth lies elsewhere. Back in the late 2010s people started to not like Phil, while they loved Ramy and were rooting for him (and Kai before him). In 2017 Ramy was BY FAR the fan favorite, when for the first time he came tight. The upset when he lost to a Phil, at a time that his gut was at its worst, was HUGE. The public upset was so big that the judges were pressured to not give it to Phil another time if he did not fix the issue. And he didn't.
The next year Ramy came off, and Rhoden at hia best, so he won, but regardless, Phil was not getting another victory looking like this. Now i love Rhoden, but if the same judging criteria are applied, Ramy deserved it more in 2017, than Rhoden did in 2018.

Yes, his front lat spread was horrendous and notice his neck completely disappearing in the torso. Reminds of Mussolini during his public speaches during fascism.
