Have used my Rok Straps everyday for 20 months, without issue. The only potential weakness is the plastic clips, and metal might be better, but I’ve not had an issue in ~400 days of use.
One thing I think you forgot to mention for the green chili is inside the black tubing the elastic is woven into the fabric. So if the elastic fails the strap still works. I like them better purely because I know they will not wear out.
True but doesn't the elasticity eventually wear out? They'll always hold but eventually they'll behave just like normal straps. I do feel confident the elasticity is good for a while but I don't know if it'll outlast ROK elasticity which BTW their seams will likely fail before Green Chili. The whole thing is a toss up I guess because all straps are wear items.
@@AdamChandler86 Actually, the elastics will last a lot longer. Since the elastics are inside the tubular webbing they are never hyperstretched. They only go so far before the webbing takes over the load. Rubber wears the quickest when its stretched too far, especially where the stitches are.
How much were the green chili's? With the Roc straps the tension is being held by the plastic clip vs with the chili it is held by the steel locking thing. I do have to say I have never had a problem with my Roc straps though.
$35 for these straps which is easily $15 more than Rok Straps of the same size. But made in America by hand, great warranty, small company so I'd say it's about even so long as they are on par performance wise - greenchileadv.com/collections/dual-sport/products/gcag-mondo-straps-kit
Look good but not at twice the price. I like the shaped loops on the ROKS and prefer the plastic buckles as they will do much less damage than a loose metal buckle.
Great point. $40 for straps is expensive and if ROK works for you, no need to change. This is a small company so I had to give them a try. We'll see how they do long term.
We do offer a plastic buckle version called the Mondo UL. However, our plastic buckles are field replaceable. Our gear also has a lifetime warranty against defect as well. We also offer rubber buckle bumpers for the metal cams. I use those on my 1190.

Awesome, thanks for the honest review!
Thank you! These are still my favorite straps. I ordered 2 more last week.

@@Greenchileadvgear Should your straps be used under full tension or partial?
@@thomashardison1140 Full tension is best. This gives the most range of motion to keep things tight if luggage shifts.
