Thanks for your article. There are actually a number of different styles of the 2 in the dates of the Perth Mint pennys. There is the standard 2 with the Perth mint reverse die. The tall 2 has the Melbourne reverse die. There is also the 2 tilted to the right and the 2 with wedge shaped base which is quite scarce. A variation of the tall 2 is the 2 with the square end serif, so there are a few variations.
One of my favourite bronze coins. I've got a little collection: 1942, 1944, 1948 - 1952 and 1957 - 1964, 15 pieces. 13 are Perth mint and 2 Melbourne mint. I used to have some repetitions but I sold them out as part of world coins lots.
Oh that is nice, I have too many coins now, a few hundred. I will have to sell them lol. Would you like some of that dates you do not have? This is part of my 10k giveaway.
@@Gumardee_coins_and_banknotes you're so kind mate, but I really couldn't tell you which date... maybe 1943 just to have 3 years from George VI's period in a row. If you are interested in some spanish coin, well my collection is pretty humble but I could sent you 1 peseta from the goverment of Euskadi (civil war, local issue) or something like that, along with a few pieces from the 20s and 30s that you might already have but they are nice coins. As you like. My mail is jmgd1983@gmail.com for further details. Oh, by the way, merry christmas and all that!
Haven't awesome coin collecting Christmas everyone thank you so much Glen the years going on a bit sore and sorry from cricket but we get that you beauty cheers heaps mate
There used to be a shop in Melbourne cbd that after sorting they would put all the penny's on a table, was like 10 years ago. I think the roo variety were 20 cents, the others were 50 cents. Was good to get fillers for sets. These coins you just want fillers. They don't go up in value like the sort after ones. You really just want a reasonably struck coin without too much wear, and for it to be problem free. If it's dirty I reckon you need to remove the dirt, to make sure it is problem free if you are going to keep it. Sometimes you will find a problem, but better finding a problem and getting rid of the coin, that having the problem rise 20 years later and going to hunt that one low value coin. Your not getting it graded, and even graded coins you are after the coin, not the grading. So if you have to clean it a bit harder than you wanted, a cleaned problem free coin is better to me than a MS 63 that is a problem coin, it's not really worth keeping in my eyes. That is why some uncirculated coins are cheap, A MS 60 61 62 is a rubbish coin in some sense and catalogue value for uncirculated is for a MS 62 that is problem free. A MS 60 really has the value of EF. The catalogues point this out. Also greening on a coin could be from another coin, best to remove it and see if it comes back, if it is from another coin, it will eventually cause problems to that coin.
Inter earmark does that sound more like it I hope someone can help me with this I think someone told me it's the first one made I thank you for trying to help me

I went to the Hobard market today, and there were so many common date pennies in boxes. Most were $1 a piece. Gotta love inflation.

Sounds cool mate.
