Even though I'm still sure this isn't Arin's favorite game series by a long shot, I'm still oddly touched he fondly remembers the past gags, bits, and even names. Nothing brings me more joy than Arin doing his Monokuma voice.
It's possible he did hear the voice but it didnt fully register, which made him think of hamsters, and also why he thought to ask Arin to give him a deep voice

oh man, I sure do love it when writers spend a bunch of time and effort writing in characters that add literally nothing to the setting or plot. I'm sure that's a good sign.
@@00nasco48 the part I hate about it is not only are they a complete waste of time *by design* if they are intended to be skippable without losing any context, but then the writers also turn around and try and lampshade it with monokuma trying to crack jokes about mascots returning in sequels. It's like the writers know they wrote trash but think that being "self-aware" suddenly makes it not trash.

The Monokubs' lines aren't completely worthless either, as they do provide information to us, albeit in an overly bloated way. Maybe you could consider all those pieces of information "not important", but I don't see how "important information" can be quantified in this game asides from clues in murder cases, which would make 99% of characters' lines unimportant.

iirc, every single character in v3 is voiced by a previous dgrp voice actor! ryoma is gundham, monophanie is sonia, miu is akane, monodam is byakuya, etc etc
There’s also a sonic reference in chapter 4 which unfortunately will take a long time for them to get to if they are only doing these episodes on the weekends and switching between other games per week as well.

@Lucifersfursona I'm not the biggest fan of him (find him kinda annoying in game youre right dude IS just a twink) but replaying the game with what we know by the end in mind is fascinating, cause EVERYTHING he says pushes what he was trying to do forward. I don't remember when but momota comes up with the exact same plans as ouma multiple times, just after the trials instead of before the murders, he says "its so bad we didnt think of doing that!" But then, ouma DID think of doing that. And at the end, he won. His plan worked.

the amount of rapping jokes they've made in shuichi's presence before 1:36:17 when one of the main memes of v3 is the shuichi covering his face sprite with a reference relating to rapping... they really are on a spiritual wavelength with these games...
35:30 important to note that in the JP version “Ultimates” were referred to as “Super High-School Level ” so yes Kyoko would be the “Former Super High-School Level Detective”
Also, the school had a new "Lucky Student" every year - Makoto and Nagito are both lucky students, and they attended at the same time, so there's no reason to assume that other talents didn't overlap at times.
Fun fact: All the characters in this game are voiced by the same voice actors as the first two games! A few examples are Leon/Shuichi, Angie/Celeste, Monophanie/Sonia, and Ryoma/Gundam!
In case anyone is curious: Yes, the “actual” Danganronpa 3 is the anime they saw clips of in the opening. For some reason the end of the story started by the first two games is an anime. Danganronpa V3 is a whole different beast, as you and the Grumps will soon come to learn.

Warning now: Monokuma doesn't sound the same as the previous games. This isn't because they got a new voice actor, but because in the 6 years (or however long it was) between production of DR2 and this game, he just kind of...forgot how to do the voice right. He's admitted as much and apologized. Over the course of the game, he does get back in the swing of it, and he's like 95% back on-track by the last chapter, but it takes awhile.

I don't know if it counts as a spoiler, but Dan's technically correct about Kyoko no longer being the Ultimate Detective because she doesn't attend the school anymore. They're only called "Ultimates" during their school years, with only one of each talent. Once they graduate, they're referred to as "Former Ultimate."
I was smiling through this whole thing. I didn't know what was going to happen in the first two games because Game Grumps introduced me to the series and experiencing the game for the first time with them was so fun. Now as a full fledge Danganronpa fan and knowing what happens in this game is a really different experience. I can't wait for their reactions to like, literally everything in this game. It's gonna be a wild ride.

@Lucifersfursona I'm not the biggest fan of him (find him kinda annoying in game youre right dude IS just a twink) but replaying the game with what we know by the end in mind is fascinating, cause EVERYTHING he says pushes what he was trying to do forward. I don't remember when but momota comes up with the exact same plans as ouma multiple times, just after the trials instead of before the murders, he says "its so bad we didnt think of doing that!" But then, ouma DID think of doing that. And at the end, he won. His plan worked.

Warning now: Monokuma doesn't sound the same as the previous games. This isn't because they got a new voice actor, but because in the 6 years (or however long it was) between production of DR2 and this game, he just kind of...forgot how to do the voice right. He's admitted as much and apologized. Over the course of the game, he does get back in the swing of it, and he's like 95% back on-track by the last chapter, but it takes awhile.
