This is still hands down my favorite anime of all time!!! So much potential I was devastated to find out that the production company canceled the second season!! It’s been like 10 years since I watched it but I still remember everything and recommend it to anyone who watches anime!! Truly a masterpiece that never got it’s Limelight!! It's very graphic and glory but it's also unique. I read the manga they took some liberties and changed the story a little, The series did have issues outside of its production for example The manga that it was based on Went on Postpone delay due to one of the People behind the series becoming pregnant not to mention the issues with the anime as one of the animators of the show Who did work on it Kill themselves about a year or so after its released, However it's not all bad as the Manga went back into production and it does and on a happy ending. I know I read it so if you want to check it out. Go ahead remember you're gonna see a lot of dead bodies.

That are not even in the series and secrets are revealed All kinds of secrets and it gets worse before it gets better believe me our boy will be in tears And who come face-to-face with his demons including hers..
But if you're still worried don't be they're both alive, Deadman wonderland the prison park is shut down, Both of them no longer have their powers and the best part they're still together. It's a peaceful existence. She's not hurt hes do it together and I could tell you this. They were both smiling at the end.
Deadman wonderland was such a great anime. I wish a anime studio would pick it up and finish it, I read the manga and what we were able to see animated was a fraction of what the creators had in stored.
How the hell did they think it was this kid that killed 29 students and absolutely demolished his classroom I still do not understand, they must have used him as a scapegoat for this cause there is NO WAY they all actually thought this little brat did all that
Considering modern day school shootings, ease of access to the internet and Dark Web where you can buy anything, and mentally ill kids being bullied to the point of extremity...it doesn't seem that far fetched.
Shiro was a part of an experiment as a kid due to her unique powers. Ganta’s mom I believe it was one of the researchers at the lab so she’d bring Ganta to play with shiro. However shiro couldn’t understand why everyone was so weak compared to her and ended up traumatizing young Ganta causing him to forget her. Some years later after these events shiro causes a massive explosion in Japan which led to people gaining similar abilities to hers. This is what Leads to deadman wonderland being formed, they used the prison to conduct research on what the call branches of sin(abilities gained after the red explosion). Branches of sin are extremely enheighted when people are put under stress. So they force them to face off in potentially fatal battles held in the prisons under belly for the rich. Their goal was essentially trying to recreate shiro. Shiro lived inside deadman wonderland due to her only “relative” her grandpa I believe living there. Shiro suffers from split personalities and has a alter ego known as the wretched egg, this alter ego set out and found Ganta which it believed was the only way to free Shiro. Ganta ends up framed for murdering his whole class and receives the death penalty and a blood gem from shiro giving him essentially equally powerful abilities compared to hers. The first season is based on their daring escape that costs many lives and the second season was supposed to dive into crows background and his investigation after the red explosion giving us a little more insight on shiro as well and what led her to become the wretched egg. 😅 I love this anime whole heartedly hints my profile pic, I’ve waited well over 10 years for it to come back so I hope this is enough to get you interested!!
Heh. That opening line "10 years ago" hit the nostalgia spot as it's been around that long since I watched DMW. It's one of those shows with great potential that never got finished. Another one is Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu - Legend of the legendary heroes or something? (lol funny that I clearly remember the japanese name, but not really the english) PS: Crow is a badass.

Never will be. The series was only popular with western audiences. Japanese people( their core source of income) did not find the series too appealing. Even the manga was struggling to hold on.
I watched this show, short form is some Mcguffin happened at this kids apartment complex, many ppl died but the survivors gained Hemokinesis, each in a unique way. They made a prison for profit with an injected poison that kills you in 3 days if you dont eat an antidote called candy. The prison is also a theme park where time can be knocked off a sentence for being employed, but these Hemokinetists are singled out for bloodgames im secret called .... cant remember what but you lose, you lose body parts. This kid doesnt know he has abilities and is framed for mass murder of his class, given a death sentence, and dropped into the prison. His unique ability is to fire his blood like a gun and finally figures this out mid blood game. He's still a kid and hasnt put together that is his blood hes shooting and nearly loses to an old veteran of the bloodsport.
Still makes no sense to me to this day😂. Don’t get me wrong I love it for what it is but the plot is literally a boy gets thrown in prison, has blood powers meets a crazy girl who seems nice but somehow is the reason he even is in prison in the first place?? And why does she turn into a man?? Why not of just made the blood guy a cool ass chick with blood powers ? Idk so many questions literally no answers
they also never elaborated on the whole ordeal with them being childhood friends and that one or both of his parents where scientists involved with the start of the project, not much on the backstory was ever shown leaving heads scratching

This was my first anime. Read the manga after learning there wouldn't be a second season. Definitely holds a special place in my heart
