The language they are speaking is the local dialect of Shenyang of Liaoning province. "Drop your shoulder, drop your elbow (沉肩坠肘)and turn your forearm properly sticking to your opponent's wrist, then you can make your opponent collapse. Otherwise you'll be beaten at your face by him." That's what he said.
I don’t speak the language but it is an honor to watch real skill. I’m a Yang stylist but I am trying to understand Wu. Could someone say why the style frequently has the players one hand touching the wrist of the other hand? Is that to ensure good structure?
+Steve Bodnar how do you know it's just what you are looking for if you don't understand what they are saying ? i can tell you this much though, to be able to use peng ur whole body needs to be connected . if it is , and your are sung then you can maintain the springy force. i'm not a wu stylist, but in yang style it's basically the same peng is peng regardless of style. the structure, mind= intention, breath, and spirit become one manifestation of force that expands. it can not just expand in one direction, if that is the case you don't have peng. peng needs to be fully maintained like a balloon that always has air . yet in taijiquan u can choose to activate that peng force as you choose or not, as well as have it be on like a stand by mode of power; that then allows you to do whatever when you need to use it. i hope i made sense to you.
well. … I understand what you've said, but i think Steve, had a different interest in understand that, what was being shown. i think he wants to know more of body mechanics (angles, force) and timing of application.
looks like he's explaining , peng , and how to expand the structure with peng imho. he also may be alluding to scapular involvement, and even the energy pockets to the way he points to the shoulder so often. but that is just a guess based on what he is doing/then showing . if you can manifest peng in your postures as you move then you are already on your way. if you can not then sung + structure + intent will generate peng force .
I'm a taichi newbie. Learned the moves to Northern Wu 37 form and so far the teacher was showing the opening and the first 3 (of 4 moves) for grasp the birds tail. Wu is more complicated than Yang (which I practiced for 6 years) even though the technique names are the same. I won't feel offended if you correct me. Like I said, I'm a newbie.

@@Livingtree32 but.. can you do it ? :D
@@izmanq I was referring to the dialect, not the content. But as far as the content goes: I'm practicing, never perfect.
Thank you!

No, he's a student of Zhang Yushu and Sun Xincheng (and also learned from Sun's teacher Li Jingwu).
@@Livingtree32 it says in another video he also learned from Feng Zhiqiang. Is this true?
