Gorgeous set, I have an original set with the correct tender. Guess we were both lucky.

So hard to find and you have an add on car also. Awesome find and a $ deal on top of that.

Wow that’s a great find… my Hafner chrome and blue find that I had to rebuild was a miss labeled item too, otherwise even in the shape it was in it would not have gone for $14…..

Beautiful set and it looks fantastic running on your layout, which really highlights the chrome. So the original Lionel Silver Streak sets were only made in 1935. I believe the tender should be 261TX, which distinguishes it by the unique draw bar to latch up to the ultra rare 619 combo mail/coach car. BTW, Lionel's matching Flying Yankee black top version, shares the same all chrome observation car , vestibules and coach cars and was only made in 1935 as well. Excellent example of the early transition from steam to diesel at that time. Also the epitome of art deco design from the golden era of streamliner trains. The all chrome 617 coach cars and vestibules slightly more plentiful, because they were also used in later Yankee sets that had painted rear top observation cars. So the all chrome 617, 618 and 619 cars were all available in 1935 with all chrome vestibules. I would have wanted the 617 car added to the original set, which was too short. I need more chrome man..... Cheers from Stewart!

Again, have made a train the way Lionel should have made it ! I mean with a coffin tender instead of the small coal tender ! Keep up the good work ; you have great taste and judgment !

Because it is not hard to do. There are two kinds of drawbars. One has a circle end and the other a twist end. You rivet or use a bolt on the circle end drawbar or you put the twist kind through the premade hole in the tender and twist. This one has a circle drawbar. It is held on with a nut and bolt that has thread lock on the threads
