  • A fence eight feet tall runs parallel to a tall building at a distance of four feet from the building. What is the length of the shortest ladder that will reach from the ground over the fence to the wall of the building?

    for the length equation, why did you square 4+x and y?

      I am using the Pythagorian theorem to find the length, which is sqrt of a^2 + b^2
