    Your goat question: Short answer is almost. They will strip everything to dirt that they can reach BUT won't eat things with bark. Young 1" trees is just about the limit. What you end up with is a very weird dystopian landscape of dirt, stripped trees to about 6' in the air. It really a weird things to see. But if you just have is grass, brush and very young trees, all that's left after they are done are piles of poo.

      Yes to all of this, and one thing that seemed to have been forgotten over time, cloven hooved animals do something to the earth, not sure we quite have a grasp on it, scientifically, but when you run them on the land, especially ruminants, the natural grasses wil come back. I've heard dozens of testimonials about how ancient grasses come back, in areas where it's been gone 300-400 years. The only way to really explain it is that the seeds lay dormant, indefinitely, and are just waiting for the hooves, sun, and poop to activate them to sprout.

      Definitely NOT a good idea, since the moulcher is only meant for 30gpm. Pushing 100 trough it will cause it to overspeed and maybe even trow a teeth or something. Plus that wouldn't even solve the problem, since the motor doesn't produce enough tork. What he could have done is get the bigger motor with 150cc instead of 100. Jesus said “behold I have made all things new, how do you not see it? Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old” Isaiah 43:18-19. He was speaking about the old law in books like Numbers. Jesus did away with those things. That verse is not an indictment of God like you think it is. When mowing overgrowth that was previously grazed pasture, I was advised to start on whatever edge was opposite to the direction of blade rotation. In the case of Andrew's new, expensive, but frustratingly underpowered machine, the blades rotated clockwise, so one would start on the RH edge of whatever foliage area needed cutting - as we see being done from 19:44 with the older machine. That way the debris would (should?) get flung out instead of being drawn in. Mulching may require a second pass over the debris with a different machine - as we see from 32:20.

    Andrew, I'm sure you've already figured out why the skid steer has a hard time with brush cutters. But for those that don't, the main problem with not being able to keep the cutter spinning is the hydraulic oil has gotten too hot. That's not a problem with just Andrews' mower, the skid steer platform as a tool carrier doesn't have the capacity to carry enough oil or the capability to sufficiently keep cool the oil it does use, not even including the lack of HP shared by all skid steers. Hydraulic oil temperature that exceeds 175 or 180 won't get work done and doesn't have the lubricating ability that the equipment needs. (hard on seals, valves, pumps, etc.) Even the so-called 'hi-flow' skid steers are really challenged with cutters.

      Black mulcher is not intended for grinding small shrubs. It is necessary to feed from the right side above the disk, there is a stop that does not allow the large trunk to pass further. On the disc on the top side there are teeth for grinding. Thus, the trunk of the tree will itself move after grinding.

    We found you have to have a High Flow Hyd system for the mulcher to work, I know it says low flow, but really it needs high flow system to really work. They say low flow to sell them.

      Is flow (or hydraulic power ultimately) the only thing, or would a horizontal drum like a Fecon have less problems tangling up ?

    • @chief5861
      @chief5861 3 года назад +3

      @@Sjanzo Flow is a very large part of it, but the drum mulchers are more for dedicated tree removal whereas Disk ones are general usage. Drums will suck a tree in and turn it to toothpicks. But yes, his machine just isn't able to spin the disk up as fast as it needs to be. If he had a high flow machine he'd be shredding the stuff that tangled it up. It only tangled because at his flow rate the Pump can't produce enough pressure to rip through what's wrapped it up.

    What a big job Andrew. That had to take some hours. It is fun to see the difference from start to the end. . After it looks like a garden with a nice grass area, before it looks like a small wood. You always do a great job, with hours of hours of hard work. I wish you a nice autumn, and hope you will have some great days. Best wishes from Jan in Norway

    Hey Andrew, i just stumbled onto your channel recently and i'm glad that i found you. I used to be alot like you a few years ago, however doing everything on my own and the incredibly hard work isn't what stopped my game. I had just started a new family and i loved working like a mad man to make sure they wanted for nothing. For what ever reason though, my now ex wife offereded me zero support or appreciation. After a while i began to lose my reason for being or doing anything. What happened next is not anything that i can share at this time. I am so pleased to have found Andrew just watching the excellent work make my spirits soar. thank you and Peace from Canada

    I've seen backhoes fitted with a similar mulching attachment that seem to respond better. With the articulating arm you can start near the top of a tree and grind it down faster.

    • @techtastisch7569
      @techtastisch7569 3 года назад +2

      I don't think that the flow rate is the limiting factor, the issue is that the motor doesn't have enough Torque to spin up when something is stuck in there.
      A HIGHER FLOW RATE ONLY MAKES MORE SPEED that wont help if torque is missing! Thats like adding an higher gear to an car that doesn't have enough "power" to tow something! What he could do is use the 150cc motor over the 100cc that will obviously drop the max rpm way lower, but in turn make more Torque. Another thing would be to check the hydraulic pressure setting on the machine, wich has an proportional relationship to the torque
