I have been doing Drywall work for 30 years, Excellent info for DIYers , I always use a 8” knife for my knock down When you do a lot of ceiling, it pays to use one ,Thanks for your video .
Disagree, and I'm a DIY. You should ALWAYS give the chance for the texture to flash dry before knocking it down. Also, a large acrylic blade works WAY better than a 6" blade.
i don't recommend it, if u have no other choice and do this at least primer beforehand so texture may actually hold. ur better off doing some kind of paint with texture so it actualy holds to wood
Im curios, how do you mix with knock down mud texture mix before you use Hooper spray and also how much do yo air compressor like 90 psi before you spray on ceiling or wall thanks
I just bought my first house and I’m doing a knockdown texture ceiling. Right now, I’m removing the popcorn and then doing two skim coats, priming, adding the knockdown texture, and finally painting. Are the two skin coats a required step? Or should I skip that since I’ll be costing it with knockdown texture anyway? I’ve already done one (small) room and trying to figure out the best process before I tackle another room.
In Alberta, ceilings get prime then texture , all done. Have done some painted then knockdown over that. I remember 1 old guy used a kerosene lamp , turned up, smoking heavy, swirl pattern created a marble look. Damn impressive @@drywallrepair
If you gotta release pressure your compresser needs turned down.. if you gotta strain mud throw it out and clean your equipment, & I really don't think the mud is going thru that screen anyway. also a knock down needs to be gubber free becuase if not you will cut streaks all over your work. knocking down with a 6in would take all day. So many things we do differently
