    As a Brazilian, I am taking inspiration from a very interesting time in our history. In the 60s we had this musical movement called Bossa Nova, which mixed samba and jazz and is full of elegance. Musicians at that time lived a bohemian life in tropical cities. The style of they clothes reminds me of the Italian Riviera style, with Latin and tropical touches. Light colors, short sleves sometime, wide lapel, pocket shirts. Check it out the references, it worth.

      I adore Bossa Nova music but never looked into the style of the musicians/scene. So I will definitely check this out, thank you!

    Nice video!!
    For the western style id stay away from a short boot like a chealsea.
    Instead go for more of a lace up packer boot. They definitely look better and traditionally men wearing heals were a sign of wealth.
    As a bonus. Since people seem to like wearing skinny legged pants. The lace ups will hide better under the pant leg without causing odd shapes.
    Oh and dont roll your pant legs, get them tailored to have a nice break.
    To short you look like you are expecting a flood or and to long looks like you are wearing your dads pants.

    • @Gent.Z
      @Gent.Z  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you! I wouldn't recommend a Chelsea boot without the jodhpur straps. Although the packer boots are more traditional, I think it would be harder to make them look good with a more typical, old-money outfit

      @va6gkthaskey311 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@Gent.Z if you are actually goimg to spend time working a ranch or anything of the sorts and style want the style. A lace up is the way to go or a high shafted boot at the very least. The extra protection along with the first time you step in mud and sink, youll be grateful for the boot staying on your foot 🤣
      the packers for the style you want id suggest going to Frank's,JK's or anywhere you can custom order.
      You can pick the leather, colour, eyelets/colour and all. Go towards their heritage line of boots. Even change the kilties or not use them at all.

    Another thought, loose the "smart watch" seriously they look tacky as heck and are a huge waste of money.
    Either get yourself a nice automatic watch not to big or step up your style and get a pocket watch!!
    A pocket watch will definitely draw a little attention and is an awesome touch to an outfit.

    • @Gent.Z

    Skyfall is the film that got me into classic Mens attire and at a personal level changed my life. It was my life template, because the core of the film, it really is about a man, who is a wreak getting back not just as good as before, but better. Before the film took me, I was early 30's wearing hoodies, cargo trousers, trainers, didn't wear a watch (just used the phone for the time), had messy hair, unkept beard and was also overweight.
    I don't know how the film done it, as I disliked it on first viewing but over the years it grew on me. From that film, I became obsessed at first with the watch, then a bit later the Barbour wax jacket and Crockett & Jones Boots. I even got myself to the gym twice to three times a week just to use the running machine, like in Skyfall that helped me lose a couple of stone and get back into shape. I can't think of another film where I desire at least 10 items of clothing like the suits, Tux, boots, jackets, jumpers, watches as well as how to repair myself and conduct myself as an adult man. A life changing film.
    I really hate to see how I would look now if the film didn't inspire me to get into shape, get regular haircuts and dress better. Probably an obese slob in a hoodie looking like The Comic Book Guy in the Simpsons.

    Western or English Country. Western allows great hat choices and accessories, boots, belts, bolo ties, etc.
    I wonder if any celebs will be sporting a 40s-look fedora at the Oscars this year. Personally, I would love to see men's formal hats come back.

    Growing up in an old money community where the Yacht Club was center socially the club blazer tie and oxford shirt were required. Now that new money has arrived cliche designer clothes of questionable quality are seen everywhere. Gaudy jewelry has become commonplace in the old days a Rolex Submariner said it all.

    This video reaffirmed Western style is something I am staying well away from, except I do *occasionally* wear jeans and I love the look of that neckerchief. I can't see myself pulling a neckerchief off, and I don't know what I'd wear it with, but who knows. I'd say my style is a blend of the latter four styles. Right now I'm wearing a navy cardigan, which is kind of academic to me, with a bold floral print and cream-colored pants, which I'd say are venturing into dandy territory, though restrainedly. I hardly ever wear my glasses because I don't much need them, but they do look good and sometimes I think I should wear them on occasion anyway. They do make a *slight* difference in my vision, I honestly think my aversion to them is just because I get tired of cleaning them! "If you haven't read a book in a year..." Haha, yikes, what a way to live. Right now, the books I have I have next to me are,"Mindfulness: A Practical Guide to Awakening," "Without You There Is No Us: Undercover Among the Sons of North Koreas' Elite" and one of my favorites to revisit, "Existential Physics: A Scientists Guide to Life's Biggest QUestions." I love fiction to pieces, but it's been mainly nonfiction for me lately. How do my comments always end up so long on your channel!? Well, all the best.

    For me, I prefer the "Academic" and "Country" style. I really do love my Barbour Bedale waxed jacket, it's a staple of my fall/winter wardrobe. I also love wearing the flat cap that I bought on my honeymoon in Ireland. It pairs perfectly with my Barbour jacket.

    I describe my personal style as “blue money” - blue-collar old money. It’s all about balancing Americana workwear with old money style. Here’s an example outfit: brown leather loafers, khaki chinos, light blue chambray shirt and an olive green field jacket. Here’s another one: Redwing chukka boots, dark wash blue jeans, blue and white striped Oxford cloth button-down and gray patch pocket sportcoat

    Since I am a classically trained pianist and love reading (due to my thirst of knownledge), I basically mixed Old Money with Dark Academia and made my own style that I wear all year, except summer when I mostly wear Nautical due to the hot temperatures. Fragrances I recommend for Academic OM are Dior Fahrenheit (both EDT and Parfum), Azzaro Pour Homme EDT, and a more affordable, quite popular one, Lattafa Khamrah.

    Uh, there was another vid that was another guy differentiating between Trad clothing and Preppy clothing and such and he had a slightly better term for Casual instead of Old Money, which is lazy and vague and seems to imply Casual more than Trad, etc. That's not a Western shirt; that's a Safari shirt. [Military inspired, more like than contrast yokes, etc.] So actually IS more like looking COWBOY except for maybe not the hat because that buckle and denim shirt are both Western from late 70s or early 80s? Hollywood Western and what came in Country Music later having little to do with ACTUAL Old Western wool suits and Derby hats, anyway...

    • @Highland_Paddy
      @Highland_Paddy 8 месяцев назад

      I believe RODEO is more the look you refer to than Cattlebaron, which would also be more proper suits but then with luxury hats and expensive, possibly exotic boots and more elaborate styling than "regular" men's business suits.

      @Highland_Paddy 8 месяцев назад

      "Tasteful" plaid shirts aren't really Western in the same way, either. Most of the sportier plaid shirts are actually more Preppy, and outdoorsy workwear doesn't look expensive enough to say MONEY.
