Thank you for this video. I have bought 3 Catasetums few months ago, without any experience. After I’ve seen your video I decided to choose different pots for them next year 🙂 BTW your Catasetums are really beautiful 😍
Wow, this is some good info! Hubby bought a black orchid for me a couple of years ago. . I'm in repotting mode and am glad I took the time to do some research, as I definitely don't want to lose this one. She hasn't bloomed for me yet, but I'm in the middle of rethinking everything as far as my whole collection goes, so this is very helpful, thank you!
Thank you for your help in the repotting and trimming of the roots. I have a question. I bought an orchid actually it’s two and one pot but they’re not actually in the pot. They’re in a little plastic containers that sit in the pot and not all the water is draining out of that clear plastic container, so my question is if they’re in flower, should I leave them alone until the flowers drop off to repot it and if I do repot it do I use the orchid mulch? I know it was lengthy but I do thank you for your time.
Hi @orchideria. I just want to say I love your video. I tried this method but I made a few mistakes and stunted the growth of my catasetum. I’m going to try it again with another catasetum and hopefully the stunted one survives it’s dormancy since it didn’t plump up enough.
On the new growth, the very tips of the leaves are goimg dry, it only has tiny root nubs though right now. Does that mean too much sun or not enough humidity? My humidity is only 20-30%
Hello, How long does it take to start seeing the roots? Also do you spray water the sphagnum moss when it dries out or just wait until we see roots? I repotted mine a few weeks ago and still don't see any roots. But the moss is dry now. 🙏
🤣 Rewind… me after watching how to water Catasetum. As always I love how you explain and elaborate in more practical ways. My Cata is growing it’s new 2 pseudobulbs. Can’t wait for the blooms ❤️.
I never had much luck with catasetum. I do have great luck with Galeandra, which is strange, because they have a growth cycle simular to catasetum (they are in catasetinae). Anyway, I'm having another go with catasetum. I just ordered a ctsm. macroglossum, so we'll see what happens. Thanks for this advice. I feel encouraged.
Hi Steve, I'm sure you'll have success. The tricky part is getting information. Once you have that, Catasetums are great! Thanks for watching my video and leaving a comment. I appreciate it.
I killed a catasetum expansum and it broke my heart. The description of its scent is what made me want to buy it. But it lived for awhile. I think I overwatered it and may have used the wrong moss. So I'm going to try again. The video explains a lot. Hopefully second times a charm. How's yours growing now? Did you end up getting another ?
Thank you for the great info on the catasetum I just purchased one my tips were yellow 😞 I’m new to orchids… I had 6 phals they all died🥲. I’m nervous about taking care of this one
Hi Lynda, I found Catasetum easier than Phals. I tend to overwater, so when it comes to these, if you respect the dormancy cycle, they are quite easy. You'll love them.
I got mine from a friend and they looked like something a dog would leave behind 😉 I thought it were Dendrobium canes. Thank you for the video, it's the one species I have and still don't understand yet
Hi Amanda can you please do a video of cattleya they’re my number one orchids I’m growing them okay ✅ but I’m sure you have more knowledge to share Thank you Lots of love from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Hi Cindy, I hadn't even thought of how my comment would come across to a hairdresser. Thanks for pointing that out, and for watching the video. I appreciate it.
I bought my first three cata and I'm so excited 🌺❤️🌺❤️🌺❤️🌺
Thank you Amanda. I watched this video multiple times just to properly understand informations delivered. Really enjoyed it too...
Hi B_ahasan rosly, Thank you. I appreciate it.
Super informative, I didn't know what their natural habitat was like so now their care requirements make so much more sense!
Hi Sqirrilums93, I'm glad the video helped.
GREAT job on roots. Do I cut dead flowers? How to report into.bark?

Thank you. Very informative video. I am new to catasetums. But I have learned so much already. Hopefully I get to bloom this witch craft.
