It works, but it some cases they had alternatives in the OST that worked just as well. But I guess it was a choice of cramming in more fanservice ( Driving Me Bananas ) or a recognisable licensed track and they decided they had enough fanservice already and wider appeal was preferable.

The fact that this was the beginning for Guardians of the galaxy volume 1, and the fact they added it in there for Chris Pratt, (probably) is 100% respect NGL-

I saw another online recorded copy of the Mario movie, and this song plays...It made me think of Megamind. I think it's just me but Illumination and Nintendo referenced 2 iconic songs from past kids movies like I Need A Hero from Shrek 2, and Mr Blue Dky from, of course, Megamind. That is just mind-blowing!
while the movie is perfect it is truly damn near it! It's lightyears better than the 90s version and as a huge fan I couldn't help but get emotional watching the movie because Nintendo and Illumination knew going into it that this was for people of all ages. I can assure many adults including myself felt young again and had chills of nostalgia. I think I can speak for almost every person that grew up on Mario that theatrically speaking, Nintendo and Illumination has delivered a masterpeice. I expect big things in the future from illumination to bring forth great movie adaptation of our favorite Nintendo titles. Hats off to you 🎩

Am I the only one who wishes the “Mr blue sky” happy ending scene could be a bit longer so we could see princess peach, toad, donkey Kong, and cranky kong having fun in the mushroom kingdom driving karts, having a party with many foods (yes, including cake), toad’s kart gets stuck in the mud and princess peach uses her motorcycle to help him get his kart out of the mud puddle?
guys i hope they make a game like the film, like an open world like zelda but in the world of mario, it’d be EPIC, however, i also hope that in the next sequel there is cappy ( from odissey )
