I love this video. I use something very similar and have for over 15 years. The one difference is I allow tabs for each monthly expense that has the website/username/password/account number. For instance electric monthly amount will have a continued line to enter the said information above. I will definitely pay for your template and try to incorporate the user/name and passwords.
I'm using it and I decided I'll try to adopt it. I wish the income could be entered as a separate category after you download the csv file. But other than that, it's great. thank you.
Hi, this is a great tracker. I've been taking an Excel course, and learning its full capabilities has been enlightening. It would be cool to see how you set up a simple spreadsheet, formatting cells, columns, tables, and drop-down menus across the sheets. Great video!
This is a great tracker. Thanks for sharing. I know we track all expenses but what if you have multiple accounts? Do you still keep all transactions from all accounts in same place while tracking the balances on the summary page? If you can direct me to more details about this tracker I’d appreciate it. The moment you said rrsp it made me feel the 🇨🇦😊 but please let me know. 👍🏾
Love how simple the tracker is to use. When tracking your monthly results, how would to track the money going out towards debt payments and investments/saving? In the example you showed on the video, it was only for monthly expenses. Would I just need to add a category to the the master budget sheet?
As someone who isn't super excel savvy.. if I have more line items in any category (say savings buckets or expenses), can lines be added and it still calculate the new lines?
PLEASE explain how you ADD a line item in the various budgets ie: If you run out of the provided lines for Transportation. I need to add about 3 line items for each categories. I did this on the Master but it isn't transferring over to the various months. THANKS. I am stuck until I can figure this out.
how does this template work for budgeting for irregular expenses? It looks like the master budget updates all the months. Can you make changes on the individual month? If your budget changes throughout the year and up update the master, does that override all the months again? Another question is.....I guess you cannot split transactions for expense categories? Anyway I cannot imagine doing this so manually. It looks very time consuming. I use a budgeting app. I do like this concept and having to do more manually helps you master the details, but the example in the video is very simple, it quickly gets to be a lot more volume of transactions for a larger household.
Hello; that's a sweet setup... Is it customizable, or its a protected worksheet? Does it work for small business? I mean... how many hours, trials, with self made excell sheets... but this seems an all in one solution.... No paypal option for payment?
I have spent 6 hours working on my budget. I purchased the $20 2024 budget and made a copy. Unfortunately, the Master Budget edits I have made are not copying over to the various months? Can you please take a look at it if I share it with you. Hours or work and I am afraid I have done something wrong.
I was wondering what do you use to track your Adjusted Cost Base for all your non-registered investments to account for your new purchases, sales, additional purchases, partial sales, return of investments, and stock splits? Do you manually track them all, is there a recommended computer program to purchase, or have you prepared a template? I currently manually track mine but would love to automate the process if possible.
Hi @gabrielleTalksMoney, thank you for your video. I downloaded one of your templates and it's very useful. I was wondering if you have any video or advice about how to manage your income, expenses and savings when you have a bi-weekly pay. It's frustrating because most the national data is based on 'monthly' expenses/savings, but the bi-weekly schedule is mostly out of pace with a monthly calendar expense routine. Any tips would be much appreciated!
What I’ve done is calculate my monthly expenses and divide by how many times I get paid. For me, that’s weekly, so I divide by 4. That way I know how much of each paycheck goes towards each category. You’ll need a small cushion, of course, since bills aren’t spread evenly.
Hey Gabrielle! How can this be used to track multi year net worth? Looks like this sheet only tracks for a year. Should I make a copy and start over for 2025?
Hi Ajay, yes that's correct, it's an annual template and gives you the most updated networth during the year. For 2025, you can copy and start a new one. Hope that clarifies!
Hey Gabrielle, thanks for the awesome video. I'm using the full version of your template and I have a question about how do you manage the carry over balance (positive or negative) for the following month, as in the TV purchase example.
I just like to document why I went overbudget that month (as shown in the video) and reflect on better spending habits going forward. If you are underbudget - thats great! You can allocate it to more savings for the month.
For the initial investment in the investment sheet, do you always put the full invested amount for each month or only the money you put towards this account during the month? In the case of the total invested amount in each month, the total would be off? And in the case of the contributions, how do you know the market value for only the contributions? Thanks!!
I would put the fully invested amount each month. If you made new contributions, I would simply add it to the fully invested amount in the month contributed!

The deeper your investment roots, the stronger your financial security will be in the future.

The graphics of the excel spreadsheet is blurred and I can't see it. The resolution is too low.
You can adjust the resolution to higher quality

Do you do this at the beginning or the end of each month?
I like to do this mid-month so the previous months transactions are fully posted!
