Not a farmer but we will be lighting a small beacon in our garden in support of farmers and the campaign to get the government to have grown up discussions with the industry - Good luck and keep the pressure on.
Thanks Olly for all you’re doing for farming and for and our country. We couldn’t be more proud of our local farmer. Whatever action is necessary will have our full support - in the long run it’s to benefit everyone.
Olly . Have you thought of asking farmers from not taking sewage sludge / cake . A cousn of mine was told by a contractor who liased the spreading years ago that farmers were stupid as they did not realise they could hold the country to ransom . No upset to the public but s massive problem to the government . Eye looking better !!!!! Great vid as always
What about the bread tin for the beacon Olly Great video and news interview Totally agree with you, keeping public on side for as long as possible, not everyone is in a position to stockpile food, however the pressure has to be maintained Looking forward to tomorrow night, see how many beacons can be seen Best of luck, hopefully they beacons of hope will make the news Take care all Back UK Farmer's 🇬🇧 Geoff
Keep up the good fight Olly. Thanks again for all the hard work you are putting in to try and get this Shameless Government to stop and think about what they are doing.
Birds are pulling the moss off the roof, I had the same problem. New problem now, magpies pulling the dog 💩 💩 apart looking for scraps, patio looks like exploding 💩💩everywhere 😂
Hope you don’t get all these storms that’s forecast Olly they dont sound good Hope you have a good NYE we celebrate it at Garstang Golf Club I always enjoy NYE it’s always a great night. It will be very spectacular when all the bonfires are. Lit I hope the. Government see all this and they. Realise that will keep fighting for what’s right feeling 86% today and Olly another brilliant video
When I was a kid I can remember when my father was goug out protesting blockading fuel depoes and distribution centres, against the last Labour government.
always good content from you, you inspired me to create my own channel. now on the road to 2k subs. 2025 I'm hoping will be my year. keep up your amazing work.
Had a text today from meadow quality(animal dealer ) and they have 7 customers majority of which are slaughter houses with not enough meat to keep up the supply
Hi olly I'm from a farming background but I live in morecambe could I light a fire in my back yard in support I have a small chimnea but it burns bright 😅
Great video as always. I think you're right about doing blockades, it'll piss the general public off if not careful and a good chance you may lose the public support if not handled carefully. What time are the beacons going to be lit ? I want to see if I can see some of them.
I honestly dont think you will lose any support from the public. The impact of all of this will reach far and wide and affect everybody in some way, and i think a lot of the public realises this with all the interviews all of you farmers are doing. Fantastic work by everyone 👏 take care 💜
I think hard working family farms have the support of the public, but not those very wealthy who have clearly jumped on the bandwagon of buying IHT free land to stash their cash, and I really think you should distance yourselves from those people, though it's a complex issue to differentiate these two groups. I guess it's a question of scale.
Unfortunately, when you leave the agricultural bubble the public opinion is overwhelming against supporting farmers on this. If anything its made it worse, most people don't realise farmers get tax breaks and subsidies and grants but do now. The public aren't going to support millionaires when they pay way more IHT and are struggling as is.
Hi olly, i am really pleased that so many people are on the side of the farmers, There are still a lot of people who just don't understand why farmers can't just pay the tax. I think these people need to be explained to and keep them on our side and the rest of the public!
I think you're massively over estimating how much the general public support farmers on this. The average Joe has to pay inheritance tax and are baffled why farmers feel they should be exempt whilst receiving tax payer handouts.
No one should pay in society and before the Marxists come out of the wood work and proclaim the need out of spending requirements, stop sending money abroad to tyrannical regimes which dwarfs IHT
@@ChrisTyrer-b2r you may be right about the general public, but that is mostly because they are uneducated about the real effect of this tax. The average Joe most likely will not have to pay inheritance tax, but if they do, it’s because they have inherited an asset that they have now ‘gained’ and is usually a house. More often than not, that is an asset that they did not need but nevertheless find very welcome. Farmers own land and due to profiteering of building companies or billionaires, the value of that land has shot up. Lovely jubbly, if you intend to sell that land. The trouble is, the reasons the farmers own the land in the first place is that they cannot produce food without it. It makes no farming sense to sell the land, if you want to continue producing food. Therefore, their high value asset, is actually worth nothing to them! If you understand anything about farming, it is incredibly difficult to turn a profit from food production alone. That’s why most farmers have diversified into hospitality because that pays them a living wage, enabling them to continue farming. It is also why in years gone by, they have been paid subsidies to produce food. Find me a human that doesn’t need food! Whatever you think about inheritance tax, the government have massively got their sums wrong and the inheritance tax will effect the majority of farms, due to the value of the land and the machinery and/or animals. However, very few will earn enough income per annum, to pay off a £1m inheritance tax over 10 years, let alone pay themselves a salary. The only way they will be able to pay the tax, is to sell off land, which makes no commercial sense, because you can only produce less with less and become unviable. Farmers are happy to pay income tax or even capital gains tax if they ever sell land, but it is simply immoral to make the older generation seriously consider suicide, as a commercial decision to keep their farms viable for their kith and kin.
Also we really don’t want a one sided deal with the US as this will really put the nail in the coffin for UK farming as Brexit has damaged the industry already.
Nor do we want food shipped from the other side of the planet, so this Australia deal is a disaster for climate change - not to mention possible inferior quality.
Think you'll find it's a demonstrator from Claas for the Christmas tractor runs and if you have followed Olly for any length of time you'll know he's explained about the cost of machinery and what he's paying per month for the combine etc ....
Does it make any difference? If you saw a headteacher driving a ferrari into school everyday, you wouldn't care if it was a lease or not you'd just see the wealth on show.
How's your sfi doing a lot of farmers will be getting a very big cheque for feeding the birds instead of the nation as that's all you say we just want to feed the nation don't think so buy a new bit of machinery or build a new shed to save paying tax true or false
Taxation is a complex matter, and it does depend on how your farming business is set up. One way to meet this IHT is to convert the business into a partnership with all family members involved, so should a death happen, its only a small part of the business that gets assessed for IHT.
Hi Olly. Happy new year. Glad you liked the gifts. Hope to meet you next year🙂

Hi Ollie,
Re beacon, why not use an old steel tractor wheel center.
When I was a kid I can remember when my father was goug out protesting blockading fuel depoes and distribution centres, against the last Labour government.
They’re moss babies, they’ve flown the roof for pastures new 😂😂

Usually Blackbirds
120% with great dialysis.
Regarding your website, AI is short for "Artificial Idiocy"!
How about using a cage from an ibc tank for your beacon? Or would it be to big??
Is there a way of contacting the fire service without using 999?
Good work Olly
Ours have a website with a local number on it
@OllyBlogsAgricontractfarmer thank you
Birds are clearing gutters for a drink.
Great video Olly. Magpies / Crows or Blackbirds for the moss.👍.

wouldn’t push for blocking food distribution hubs as you can imagine the headlines your friends at GB News would come up with🤔
Thank god for channels like GB news or you wouldn’t know fat

Picked my black hoodie up earlier, very pleased with it.

Very few of as you put it " the average Joe" carry the financial risk that farmers do year on year

Strange you don’t hear on GBeebies that its poster boy Farage was the main instigator of brexit that has damaged farming immensely.
Just a thought ,at Lamma show ,any person or any Business affected by government IHT/BPR to wear a black tie to show numbers effected .
Well done GB News at the heartbeat of the farmers campaign.
Uummm Brexit didn’t do farming any favours.
Not sure if standing in front of a €1M euro tractors is a good idea when speaking to public about how we can't afford inheritance tax.🤦
