      It took a gift given (Jesus) to open our eyes to SEE The Goodness of God. The Father sent the Son to die for our sin and to REVEAL The Spirit of God to us.
      Those who are self righteous can’t SEE The Value of Christ. So they will never have their eyes opened to SEE the Goodness of God in Christ and be Transformed.
      If you don’t reject or deny Christ or suppress The Message of the Cross, The Spirit of God Revealed to you will Change you.
      One who knows the greatness of his own sin will be changed when His Judge offers to Him a Costly Grace, Mercy, Forgiveness, Love and Relationship.
      Make no mistake. Forgiveness is not Free. It cost The Father the Life of His Son. It cost Jesus His Life. It’s only when our hearts and minds receive the message of the cross that we begin to be Transformed.
      As we hear the Gospel, our eyes are opened to SEE the Truth about God. Our eyes are open to see his grace, mercy, forgiveness, justice, and love.
      God will not pass over sin. Jesus took sin upon himself and the father poured his wrath even upon his Son. The same wrath that will be poured out upon all those that reject his son.
      This message of Love and Forgiveness changes us and produces the fruit of obedience.
      Those that minimize their sin will minimize the sacrifice and love and can not be transformed.

    The Cost of Discipleship is not about sappy, self-defined love. Bonhoeffer believed that the Law was needed as well as the Gospel. He was about discipleship.

      @@lukeslc-xd8ds Truth be told. Before the movie. I had never heard of him. I say War heroes have greatness trusted on their persons and then a good press agent after the fact. Dietrich Bonhoeffer was on the winning side. And he did die a martyr. Did he really do anything that really counted??? He is like the farm boy who runs into a burning barn to save the horses. If the farm boy saves the horses. He is a hero. If he dies in the fire. There will be those who call him a fool. The line between being one or the other is very thin.

    Hmmm… a little worried. Metaxas literally starts his book (from which the movie gains its title) by DEBUNKING the heavy emphasis on Bonhoeffer’s “religionless Christianity,” which was taken out of context and blew up so large only after his death

    • @deandraalexis
      @deandraalexis Месяц назад

      I watched the movie. The marketing for the movie is misleading. The movie itself is mostly about his time in Harlem, teaching others about the religionless Christianity and standing up against the SS with his words and openly rejecting the Reichstag church that took over. In the movie, he is hiding more than spying or assassinating. He only does that as a final resort.
      I hope the Alt right and Nationalist Christians do watch this, get tricked by the title and see this mobie, because it has something to say about what could be happening in the US. This movie speaks out against antisemitism, racism, discrimination, and fascism, which it points out is rising in our society and this is due to Trump and his loyalists coming back and taking power again. This movie is coming out at the right time, not knowing how the election would go.

Amazong history

    "It's not about being righteous". Seriously!? Then that is no Christianity at all. As Christians, Christ followers, we are called to be holy and righteous. What foolishness is this man spewing??
    Matthew 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness"
    Enough said.

    • @deandraalexis
      @deandraalexis Месяц назад +1

      I think they meant that religion is not about following the religious bible, but, rather, finding God and Jesus and loving others and redeeming yourself. People get so fixated on following what they interpret the religious text to be, but Bonhoeffer wanted to teach that it shouldn't be just about the text, but about connecting with God and showing compassion. He wanted to teach about Jesus, without religion. But in the Reichstag church being formed, they were basically removing Jesus and keeping the religion, basically wanting people to fear and follow the book but not actually teaching what Jesus would have wanted.
      Watch the movie. You will see what I mean.

      If you’re truly a Christian, then you should know by now that Jesus was never about the religion business. Throughout Jesus’s ministry, he challenged the Pharisees and went against their legalism doctrine. So Bonhoeffer was ahead of his time and knew what true Christianity is about. It’s about Discipleship. It was never about religion. Redemption is pathway to righteousness.

    The not about judgement it's about love needs more explanation, because we are all rightly judged according to God's perfect judgement, no one will be saved by works i agree but judgement still comes for the unredeemed by the blood of Christ. It's about the gospel and the gospel is a reunion of the broken bond with God, so much more than that of course but again i think that isn't explained in a 20 second short

  • @contritionisgood
    @contritionisgood Месяц назад

    No, the jazz had nothing to do with what Changed Bonhoeffer, and they completely left out an element and another person that he met in New York, that did! They did a pretty good job on the movie otherwise, but you MUST READ THE BOOK!!!

  • @klassik109

    "It's not about judgement, it's about love. It's not about being righteous, it's about being redeemed." That is definitely NOT Christianity. Why are you making it one or the other? Why can't you be redeemed AND righteous? Loving AND discerning? I don't understand this Protestant desire to quite literally protest any form of authority or zealotry in the Church. Isn't that what we want?

    • @deandraalexis
      @deandraalexis Месяц назад +1

      What Bonhoeffer was protesting at the time was the Third Reich reforming the church to basically remove the Love and forgiveness of Jesus. The Reichstag church made Jesus Aryan, not Jew, and added 2 extra commandments not about being righteous at all. Bonhoeffer is trying to bring Jesus back to the religion, because following Jesus' word and ways of love and forgiveness is more important than the religious text. Also, he was Lutheran, so not Protestant in the slightest. But regardless, Bonhoeffer didn't care about the different types of Christianity - if you followed Jesus, that's all that mattered to him.

    • @klassik109
      @klassik109 Месяц назад

    He seems to have left his Harlem experience behind. Sad.
