Everyone is whining about the price but the price is worth it for what you get. A totally unique zoom that nobody else can match. Sharpness and control of aberrations is superb even wide open. There’s no reason to stop down other than depth of field or light control. Rendering and 3 dimensionality are eye-poppingly good. I imagine that the ceiling for this lens is higher than what the EOS R can capture. The lens is big but the weight is well balanced.
I have this lens with the R5. It’s phenomenal. Sharp edge to edge even at F2. Minimal chromatic aberration, easily correctable vignetting. Most importantly, gorgeous colour rendition.
Really loving the 28-70 for weddings on the R5 ; the extra crop is nice, although I do also use the 70-200 and 85 DS :)completely replaces the 24-70s and makes the, feel more like kit lenses
I bought this to go with my 50mm f1.0. Both heavy, both probably the best lenses ever made, both work brilliantly on my R5. The 28-70 is so good that i may even sell my 50mm F1.0.
Nice!! I went for the rf 24 70 2.8 because the IS, weight and filter size(nd filters and such) because I also do a lot of video simultaneously, But yes, that lens is a lot of primes in one.
I purchased this lens a year ago, and it stays on my camera 80% of the time. The pictures are stupid sharp even in low light. Now I have purchased the R6 to go with it and what I am able to do in low light it’s just nothing short of phenomenal
Killer lens! I shot with it all day on the wedding when I first got it. The images are stellar! Very crisp, with buttery bokeh. I still will use my old 24-70mm for the ceremony. But the 28-70mm is my new fave.
I had originally planned to get the RF 50mm 1.2 for two months; only to decide on this the day before the purchase. Best lens ever. In its entire focal range.
I'm pretty fortunate. My local camera shop runs a 50% off Saturday rental(you can't reserve and it's first come first serve and whatever's available) and no one really rents this lens just yet. Now I know that with the R5 and R6 out that the party is probably over of getting this bad boy for $25 bucks for Saturday and Sunday rental. Most likely I'll be getting this lens because I use it 80% of the day and is so good. Pissed I didn't get it a couple weeks ago when Canon was selling it refurbished for $2300!

This lens is almost as beautiful as Jen! ❤ I am definitely buying this with the R5! 😍
Great lens! I never saw a sharper zoom lens - the wedding lens in combination to the R5/R6 just perfect (but the weight)

Great review Michael! I hope to get it later this year. I shot with it before and it's definitely an amazing lens especially for weddings
Good investment, I’m looking to get into weddings and looking at this or the 24-70, to eliminate changing lenses often

I DID IT!! My RF 28-70mm f/2 L just came in a few days ago.
Honestly...WHEN I do make the jump to mirrorless, this and the EF 70-200mm f2.8 L iii will be my lenses of choice.
this lens makes me want a canon body with my a9's sensor!
Ordered. 👍
How do you like it now? And would you get it over the 24-70mm
Will it work well with my Mark IV camera as well? I don't have the mirrorless camera yet
