I don't think these are weak tracks whatsoever, but I DO think they contain the most (big air quotes) "normal" song structures we've seen from Jane. I think these are the most easily accessible tracks from Jane and will hopefully lead to her continued growth, but in that accessibility some of the previous distinct qualties are lost. The production is still super eclectic and very Jane tho, the tracks don't even come close to being bad, just different. I think it shows her growth as an artist that she can take commonplace genres like the Alt R&B sound and put her own spin on them that still sound like her. Idk man I love jane

I’m right there with you, I think they’re both solid songs but Flash and Dream Sequence set a really high bar. Not that these had to outdo them but the hooks are a little too repetitive and the lyricism is kinda plain for how much better she’s capable of.

idk WHY i feel this way but its probably because of how much is going on instrumentally and how little is going on vocally. i also cannot tell what she is saying at all. just doesnt feel right. i really dont know. i hope it grows on me cus calling a jane song “close to horrible” is very painful
