    Great playing! 8th bar seems to be in 5/4 tempo. Is that on purpose?

    • @BluesGuitarInstitute
      @BluesGuitarInstitute  7 лет назад +17

      +Ilkka Luukkonen no, but it felt right so I left it in there. Definitely an error though. I will say that in a lot of old blues the changes are a little less predictable than we're used to now. I'd like to say that was the reason but it was just a good!

    I come from a piano background and been searching for years for lessons in this style for a guitar. You are a great teacher, what i particulary like is that you play in normal tempo, then slower but still in tempo and when moving from bar to bar you are reminding the context from the previous one. Thank you for playing in tune, in tempo and not hiding the theory behind. Finally a real musician to teach guitar on the web! Need to subscribe.

      Totally agree. It's still difficult for a beginner like me, but I am making progress -- you have a great way of breaking the lesson down in pieces I can digest. Almost ready for the A part!

      Same here, I have a piano background too. But since 2 years playing guitar. The great thing about the guitar is, you can take it everywhere with you. Now the guitar is my main instrument...well...piano and guitar have strings both.

    Superb, some of the others show you tons of electric Guitar Pyrotechnics - but this is what every Guitarist should know before anything else. It does sound awesome and is a Must for anyone interested in Roots Music. Many 'Van Halens' might charge around the Fretboard, others just show off, but this is where Clapton, Page, Hendrix and Alvin Lee started. The Lessons are instructive, clear and open to that essential Element of Blues playing - improvisation. You can adapt what is shown here to your own Style.

    • @joelee5875
      @joelee5875 5 лет назад

      David Lambert, what you say is true but make no mistake, those guys "show off" also and I will mention that one should know how to or at least learn how to show off and don't make more of it than it is to show off., time and time again I've been in bands where it comes naturally to some, and seen people that would almost have a heart attack at the very idea... "different strokes for different folks, said the man who kissed the cow".

  • @MichaelLCusimano
    @MichaelLCusimano 5 лет назад

    Sounds terrific. It is worth noting that if you’re confused by the counting, it’s because bar 6 has 5 beats. There’s one extra beat as bar 6 arrives back at the E chord. then we start the bar 3 and 4 pattern again for bars 7 and 8. A lot of old school blues artists would have unusual counting like this, so it’s authentic to the Delta Blues/Robert Johnson sound but potentially confusing to students.

  • @itsallaroundyou7085

    Dude I gotta say. I'm only up to the A section but, I moved to this cause I was getting frustrated beyond belief with the strait up finger picking lessons and was about to give up. Doing this is actually alot easier then some of those lessons and after playing this for a while my thumb bass and melody coordination has improved drastically. You might wanna think about putting this in the finger style lesson section. I think rag time is very intimidating cause you're not only trying to figure out your fingers but also if you're not making it sound like the ragtime is just sounds like a mess. That was my experience Any way. Either way thanks. Love your channel. I'm gonna sign up for the website when I have more of a steady income coming in.👍

      Blues Guitar Institute Thanks for the positive feedback. It wouldn’t be possible without you’re kindness and ability to explain to you’re viewers how it’s done. You’re a great person and anytime I have the chance to I’m pointing any of my friends and family in you’re direction!! Keep up the amazing work!!

    For you kiddies who are too young to know, the song Mind Bender by Stillwater is a great example of Delta Blues being implemented into modern rock. Uncle Tom's Cabin by Warrant is another one too.
