As to Intel as semiconductor company in the back: No benefit at all from that: EyeQs are manufactured at ST Fabs in Europe (Croles/France) or the newer ones at TSMC (Taiwan). Leading Tier1s doing designs with ME are ZF (former TRW), APTIV and Valeo. Continental never did a smart camera with ME inside, BOSCH neither. HKMC and Mobis, yes they are sourcing ME as well. Other than that a nice summary of things.

The Mercedes EQS system is Level 3, not Level 4. It has LIDAR. Level 3 systems DO NOT require the driver to watch the road, although they have to be in seat so that the ADAS can request the driver to take over.
watching this, I realized how different or not competing Tesla FSD is to Waymo. While Tesla about launch robotaxi soon, it's an uphill battle and it will take at least a year for Tesla to come close to Waymo's current operation. However, FSD feels more like a superior product at present as a driver assistance/car feature that should be on all cars (at a certain minimum weight and/or dimensions) by law. I think it can pay for itself easily due to countless lives and property, time, money being saved.

Kind of wish there was a discussion on more advanced strategies like HD radar and detail into sensor fusion. Also an area of confusion (at least for myself) is what level of hardware redudnancy is mandated for Level 4 and 5 autonomy.
Used to work for a truck company and when we moved to the fusion sensors, the camera was doing the processing but at the same time it was taking a huge chunk of space on the windscreen and limiting visibility, not a good design idea at all!
I remember Sandy telling Elon Musk to put every different technology into cars and not just camera based systems. At the time I was working at Bae and couldn't understand how Musk's proposal would work without radar and lidar. Wonderful video thank you.

I own a Tesla M3LR “highland”, and it’s Tesla Vision sucks when it comes to phantom braking. It’s incredible that our Kia which is almost half the price has much better sensor capabilities in real life situations. Radars are much better. And also the wipers of the Kia works much better.

Wow, I have been a big Monroe fan since Sandy’s rant on the model 3 tear down but this video is very disappointing showing FSD version 11 which was terrible compared to version 12, I have owned a model X for 18 months so I have used both versions, Monroe did not make a fair review of FSD by using an old video of version 11, which is not even available now. 👎
This was filmed before V12 came out which was stated in the video and the point was to demonstrate how level 2 works and we showed two examples, Ford and Tesla. This wasn't a review of FSD.

You do not know anything and obviously did not watch the video of Tesla driving on a dirt road. Tesla ADAS has won awards for safety, specifically with pedestrian avoidance: Euro NCAP Safety Tests of Tesla Model Y 2022 - You can watch the video of the tests on RUclips.
It was filmed prior to the release of V12 and we stated such in the video. The point was to showcase level 2 which we did with Ford and Tesla. It’s not a review of FSD.
According to the classification used by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), which we stated at the beginning of the video we were going by, Tesla's FSD is still very much at Level 2 regarding autonomous driving.
Also according to Teslas own website. “Like other Autopilot features, Full Self-Driving (Supervised) requires a fully attentive driver and will display a series of escalating warnings requiring driver response. You must keep your hands on the steering wheel while Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is engaged.In addition, the cabin camera monitors driver attentiveness.”
I am against when the car is overtaking the driver’s job by driving .It is the driver who steers the like many other things and not the car ! I am against self driving cars like Tesla and we have seen too many deaths because of this !

I had to check to see how old this video is. Neither Subaru or Tesla use radar for level 1,2. Subaru Eyesight dumped radar before Tesla did.
Subaru never used front-facing radar. They do use it for rear cross traffic alert.

What I know is that a modern Tesla will run over a child, suddenly veer into walls, jerk or react in odd ways when lines are not pristine on the road.
It seems pretty clear that both sensors have their place and that AI is nowhere near ready to take over driving for us
You do not know anything and obviously did not watch the video of Tesla driving on a dirt road.

Why are you showing such an old version of FSD? FSD is now full hands free.
It was filmed prior to the release of V12 and we stated such in the video. The point was to showcase level 2 which we did with Ford and Tesla. It’s not a review of FSD.

According to the classification used by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), which we stated at the beginning of the video we were going by, Tesla's FSD is still very much at Level 2 regarding autonomous driving.
Also according to Teslas own website. “Like other Autopilot features, Full Self-Driving (Supervised) requires a fully attentive driver and will display a series of escalating warnings requiring driver response. You must keep your hands on the steering wheel while Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is engaged.In addition, the cabin camera monitors driver attentiveness.”

I am against when the car is overtaking the driver’s job by driving .It is the driver who steers the like many other things and not the car ! I am against self driving cars like Tesla and we have seen too many deaths because of this !
It is a violation of the car owners rights when the state interferes into how the drivers drive.
Now the photographing the traffic signs will be paired to a speed limiter which slow the car down to the speed on the signs It is a violation of rights and it’s wrong
