Producitn a part ( i full agree with B). The operavision young lady is a very nice storytellier) When i listen Nabucco i “dance” in the same way she dances!!!! Incredible Verdi’s power and charme!!!
You failed to mention that the Va Pensiero is Italy's second national anthem and a symbol of Italian pride and honor. VERDI - Vittorio Emmanuelle Re D'Italia. No explanation of Nabucco is ever complete without this piece of historic information.
Loved Mia and loved Nabuco at Parma. Opera is art, not historiography. All art is concerned, first and upmost, with feelings ( of desire, of pleasure, of power, etc etc) History is concerned with truth. If you want to transmit and share feelings you have to get in touch with the public as the public is NOW. So what is wrong with adapting the context of those feelings to current contexts? There is a good chance that you will be able to touch the feelings of your audience with the original feelings that the author wished to convey. Could it be truth to Verdi's intention? If it is well done as in Parma's Nabucco: YEEES. Shall it deceive the Nostalgia crowd that goes for 'Historical Truth'? YEEES. Would a Zeffirelli type Mise en Scène be wrong? NOOOO. Is this Parma's wrong? NOOOO. Live and let live!!!
Brava Mia - your energetic and simple synopsis should be attached to every opera.
In this hard times she made us laugh and be happy again. We would love to adopt Mia Mandineau. Thank you very much. Keep Safe and Healthy.
