Putin's Syrian air defences fail to defend Iran from Israeli retaliation strikes | Brian Carter

  • "A lot of the systems, particularly drones that the Iranians use, are also used by Russia in Ukraine. So what we saw was some of the advantages that the Israelis have compared to the Ukrainians, which I don't think the Iranians fully accounted for."
Iranian drones and Russian air defences in Syria are likely too outdated to stop modern US made Israeli weapon systems, explains Brian Carter from the American Enterprise Institute.

Its spiritual, satan decides who rules iran, it is his world he decides who runs the nations. The bible says God only runs 1 nation > ISRAEL, all the others belong to satan.
When satan decides for regime change, then he rises up a far worse beats to control the state.
Getting rid or the current iranian leadership, they would be replaced by some far more extreme regime that would cause more issues.

This Iranian attack was for 3 reasons. 1st: A face saving move. They needed to show the world thier ability to conduct an effective, meaningful strike agains't Israel, which they totally failed at. 2nd: This was a test of the real capabilities of Israels defensive capabilities, which I think surprised them at how effective the defense was. But, Iran also gained valuable information for future attacks. 3rd: To test Western nations resolve and see who in the west would actually join in combat. All in all, a pretty bad failure on Irans part.

Iran cannot, in any feasible way, launch a war against Israel, unless it first wanted to launch a war against one of it's neighbours to give a land bridge for ground forces to invade. Iran has no military capacity that would allow an airwar against Israel, or a bridgehead invasion using airborn troops. To get there they would need to overfly hostile airspace in Iraq, Jordan, and even Syria. It is likely that Iranian airforce assets do not stretch to inflight refueling, and given that the vast bulk of the Iranian Air Force strike assests are older generation aircraft, many in excess of 40 years, such as the F-4 Phantom II and the F-5F, as well as some older, Soviet era MiG-29 and similar models, they would not really stand much chance agianst newer types flown by Iraq, Jordan and the NATO assets in the region, and they would be well within strike range of US Carrier groups and missile defence vessels in the region. We can conclude, Iran has neither the capacity, nor the capability, to launch an air attack and then air invasion of Israel, it is safe to assume that Jordon would shoot down any Iranian aircraft entering it's airspace, and whilst Syria may be an ally of Iran, for Iranian assets to get there, they would need to overfly Iraq or Turkey - both of which are not likely to end well for Iran.
Iran is a paper tiger as far as Israel is concerned, it may have large ground forces and they may be quite capable, but in reality, they are surrounded by nations who will not want to get drawn into a wider conflict, especially as that would likely pull in US, and thus NATO forces, thus they will not allow an Offensive force to traverse their air or land space to attack Israel. ~
Equally, regardless of the size of the drone and cruise missle arsenal, Iran now knows that for any strike to be successful, they need to overwhelm the air defences of Jordan, Iraq and Israel, to do this they would need to launch hundreds more weapons than they did on Saturday 13th, likely over 1000 assets if they intended to do real damage, but that would almost certainly invoke the defence pact Israel has with the US and their assets in the region would likely turn many Iranian military assets into smouldering piles of rubble and crater, this is not something that would assist the regime in Iran, which is already hanging on by it's teeth, a sufficiently devastating blow to the Iraniain military could, theoretically, be sufficient for the Iranian Military to turn against the current leadership.

      True(ish).
The F-35 and F-22 can be tracked to some degree with low frequency, low resolution radar.
The problem is, to the higher frequency, higher resolution targeting radar, the F-35 and F-22 are effectively invisible, at least at the current state of development.
So GBAD operators will know that *something* is flying within their coverage area, and have a general idea of it's vector (velocity and direction of travel), but nothing even remotely approaching the resolution necessary to provide a target solution for a ground to air asset.

Further response from Israel is escalation - or did we all forget how to count?
If the Iranians want to retaliate, they'll shoot down some aircraft. It would be unwise for Netanyahu to escalate as depending on what kind of aircraft that is - it might demand a response from international actors that Israel might prove unable or unwilling to resist.

@IowaKeith ballistic missiles, yes. Cruise missiles and drones can have a different path. And they were shot down WAY before Israel's border. You can assume it's heading toward a base...maybe. look at russias cruise missile path and shahed paths, they're everywhere. They can make a good guess with alot, but imagine 100 cruise missiles and 150 drones being shot down in Crimea and ukraine saying, they were all targeting the power station in lviv...if it was iskanders or kinzhals, sure... else...who knows. some of the drones could've be programmed for ther presidents palace or anything. They can assume it based off the ballistic missiles data...but this isn't always true because the other two munitions can midcourse change and we're down significantly before intended impact.

    • @wasdq9748
      @wasdq9748 2 месяца назад +3

@IowaKeith they have a preprogrammed path, not a pre-set line of sight position only. Russia will send shaheds in many different directions in one flight to evade air defenses. It wouldn't be too difficult to keep them from colliding when you have 100 drones across a vast area with different speeds and altitudes. Not sure I'd call this a drone swarm, it don't matter. But drone swarms would be much closer together using mmwave and intercommuncation to keep from hitting. Only benefit to these getting that close together at such distance would be to throw off the radars range resolution to determine how many are there. But this would make it larger object and would have better luck being low and singular. Go look at a map of russias use of shaheds, it would be almost impossible to see a hit point if they were intercepted 2 hours away from the intended point. Same for cruise missiles. I don't mean to be argumentative about it, I just really disagree about tracking for a maneuvering object. Were they probably only aiming at bases...yes. but I wouldn't say that knowing these things can have avoidance maneuvers and complete direction changes. Russia does it daily, with that type of drone, they circle entire cities' air defenses. That's why sometimes they have flown in to Romania and turned back into the battlefield.
But I do appreciate your politeness and informing approach, just a disagreement. but it's much kinder than the other comment. I'll respond to that one shortly.

I'm not going to claim to be an expert on Iran but I do think that there's some logical conclusions baseed on information out there being missed by analysts like him:
    1. Practically all military actions attributed to Iran are either by proxies or by drones and missile strikes. They do very little direct, conventional military action.
    2. Iran's economy is in the dumpster.
    3. Iran has been having mass protests in their country every few years.
    4. Regarding the hard-liner mullahs authority in Iran, the country apparently has witnessed a rise in non-religious and athiesim.
What I think this all means is that Iran is a bit of a paper tiger. They do the strikes that they're doing because they can't do much else. They are not doing more conventional military strikes because THEY CAN'T.
They have neither the money to do it, the equipment and logistics knowledge, or the population support.
Ergo: they don't want direct military action with anyone.

Nobody seems to get this: the pivotal issue is actually identity politics-national versus religious, territorial political identity and not democratic dynamics of contention. Iranian public opinion has turned its back on the regime because it no longer considers it as an Iranian regime. It is a wired unforeseen and under theorized situation. But it means that the backlash response from the society can come in harsh radical discontent and tsunami level rejection.
