- I finally found long pinecones to be able to create these cute & easy diy pinecone penguin christmas ornaments! I love using nature to create crafts! (nature crafts) Handmade Christmas ornaments really add so much charm to a christmas tree. These also make cute christmas gift toppers & small handmade gifts!

Squirrels tear apart the pine ones to find and store the pine nuts… yummy eating in the winter for them… awesome job on the penguins !

Really cute. Pine cones are eaten by squirrels and chipmunks. They store them to get food in winter.

I am in rural South Carolina. Our home backs up to woods and they are FULL of pine cones! Wish you could come get some. We also have the round balls that come off of, I think, the sycamore tree. We called them porcupine eggs when our children were young and now with our 6 grands. I have seen these used to make bears, snowmen, hedgehogs, and porcupines. They are a lot of fun.

Squirrels 🐿 are more likely the ones eating the pine nuts inside pinecones. You have several varieties of them in Nova Scotia. You even have 2 of them that fly . And wild hares do you like to chew on the pine cones to keep their teeth worn down.

You probably don't have a Jewish community way out where you are, but a penguin with a blue scarf would make a cute tabletop decoration for those who celebrate Hanukkah. They would just need sturdier feet to be free-standing. These ornaments are the cutest!

Oh my goodness. It's me and Sweetgum balls!! I went everywhere. Drove all the way to the Georgia mountains. Brought home bags full for Christmas ornaments. Came home.......stepped on some at the mailbox of my friend down the street.

I have lots of pine trees in my yard with lots of pine cones. The squirrels eat the pine cones. What I make out of my pine cones are bears. Big ones and little ones. I make brown, black and white bears. I take the a pine cone for the body. Take smaller ones for the arms and legs. Cut off a small one for the nose. And take a bigger pine cone tear it apart and use it for the ears. Then I tie a bowl around the neck. I like what you did. 😃👍🇺🇲

@@susandickerson2663 I don't know how to put a picture on here, or I would. But you take one of the pinecone to make the body. Now take two pinecones to make the bottom legs and glue them to the side of the bigger pinecone. The bear will be in a sitting position. Now take two more small pinecones and glue to the upper side body of the
bear . Now take a small pinecone a cut the top off to make his nose. Then take a bigger pine cones and take two of pieces off that, then glue it of the ears. Then I put a ribbon around the neck and tie it into a bow. You can have the sitting or hang them on your tree. I hope I explained it for you understand what I am saying. Hope this helps you. 🙂I'm sorry but I forgot to tell you to take two small black beads for the eyes.

@@heartslessons6243 yes you explained it great , I will add your bear idea to this adorable penguin idea to do with my Grandchildren on Thanksgiving Eve - it’s our tradition to make a special ornament each year , placing it on the Christmas tree on Thanksgiving Day . (We didn’t do last year ) We have a special tree put up in the formal dining area with all of our crafted ornaments over the years - I have 6 Grandchildren so you can image how special the decorated tree is . It would be nice if we could post our completed penguin onto this thread ,anyway thanks for your time and idea .

Ok, I just found your channel and IDK what kind of crafter you are or what kind of things you do….but what I DO KNOW is that you have been blessed with a husband that loves you very much. He actually got genuinely excited for you finding the right pine cones!!! So cute. This Ontario gal has those pine cones in her back yard. You can fray the other end of the scarf easily. Just pull out the cross threads one by one until you get the desired length of fray.

I made a large standing penguin out of a gourd and used a wooden heart shape for feet. You could make these standing pine cone penguins the same way.

I can totally relate to the joy you felt finding those pinecones. It’s the little things that make me so happy too! Those penguins are super cute. Last year I gathered pinecones and made tiny Christmas trees, mounted on wood slices from a fallen tree on our property.
