    Short trip to New York City, together with my father and brother, from 3 to 8 December 1993. With footage of the World Trade Center, and aerial view from a helicopter. Remark: the text "Williamsburg Bridge" at 11:22 is not correct, this is actually the Manhattan Bridge

    What makes the 90's great is that, there was enough technology, people still knew how to live life, embracing the moments. I guess the generation that lived during the 90's were the luckiest of all humankind. A peaceful time to live in.

      Every country has a sort of golden per-technology era. For us Argentinians, it was around 2006 to 2015. As a poorer country, we had delays when catching up to technology, so, for instance, the Internet was just starting to become a household commodity, smartphones and tablets were nowhere to be seen (aside BlackBerries), music was still played on CDs and some pirating websites were starting to pop up, the PS2 was still the go-to console, and there was SOME economical stability (after the 2001 Argentinian economic crash, and before it plummeted again).

      @Regan MacBannon Mason Trump bragged about having the tallest building in lower Manhattan on the same day the towers fell. You're worshipping a narcissistic, evil man.
      Trump's quote on 9/11: "I mean, 40 Wall Street actually was the second-tallest building in downtown Manhattan, and it was actually before the World Trade Center the tallest, and then when they built the World Trade Center it became known as the second-tallest, and now it's the tallest,"

    • @MeiToob
      @MeiToob 3 года назад

      @Regan MacBannon Mason Donald is a pathological liar, so I don't trust any of his stories. I've never read anything about him offering to pay for reconstruction. He didn't even own that land, so that would be a ridiculous offer in the first place. I'm sure he lied about that as well. The land was owned by Larry Silverstein, who wanted to rebuild right away and had the money to do so himself, although there was a long battle over the insurance claim for the two buildings. Silverstein wanted a double payout, one for each tower. The insurance company fought for one payout. I believe Silverstein ended up winning that battle. The other reason for delay in rebuilding on that site was the understandable backlash from the victims' families. They consider it sacred ground, as that is where their loved ones died tragically. Compromises were eventually made and now we have One World Trade and the 9/11 Memorial on the site today.

    Starting around the 8:00 mark, that was really different, seeing the World Trade Center framed between other buildings. I liked that. My parents took us on the Circle Line tour, back in the 70s. We also went up inside the Statue of Liberty. I enjoyed seeing the New York Hospital from the river. That's where I was born. Very interesting video.

      9/11 made such an impression on me because I agree with you, I’d grown up with the twin towers as being THE symbol of New York. The first time I can clearly remember approaching New York was on the Amtrak train from Boston arriving in the evening, the sun was going down and the Twins were silhouetted against the setting sun. Made me realise we were almost there. So sad that they’re gone forever and that that time has gone.
