When planning our Portugal trip we never hesitated about going to Sintra. After all, it's only a 45 minute train ride from Rossio Train Station in Lisbon, a 5-minute walk from our hotel. The problem is, we didn't do enough research prior to going. (and we decided to go on a Saturday of all days...but there was a reason for that) All we knew was where the train station was located and what 2 famous sites we wanted to see when we got there. Not being prepared with a 11-month old child makes it even more challenging. Aside from not being prepared, we absolutely thought Sintra was one of the more beautiful places we have seen in a long time. We'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting Lisbon, but hopefully you'd learn from some of our mistakes. Disclaimer - it would have been a lot easier to get around by paying for the private transportation that was parked at the train station but we had a small child and no one had a car seat. We hope you enjoy the video and as always, feel free to comment with any good advice, tips, or experiences involving your time in Sintra....would love to hear!!

    About Us:
We have been married since 2009 and reside near Pittsburgh, PA. Even before we were married, we loved planning trips and traveling to cool destinations. It has now become our passion and we love diving into new foreign cultures, food, and attractions. We started making home DVDs for our own keepsake many years ago. It was a great way to preserve memories and re-live those moments whenever we wanted. We eventually found that uploading these videos to RUclips made a lot of sense. We could share them with family and friends across the country in real time, on smart TVs, Ipads, and smart phones. That eventually led to us creating the “Matt n Rach” RUclips Channel. Our focus now is not only to preserve our memories, but to include educational and useful information for our viewers as well.
In 2022 we had our daughter, Vivienne, who is now a big part of our traveling team. Traveling with a small child certainly has its challenges, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. We hope you enjoy our content and please leave a comment if you liked our video or have some something you’d like to share. We love hearing from our viewers!!

I've watched many videos on Sintra, Porto and Lisbon and most do not include prices, how to get in, what to skip and their transportation details. Thank you, this was so helpful!

Hi there I am just now discovering your channel. I love your travel content. I actually have some Pittsburgh ties. My mother is from Pittsburgh grew up in pleasant hills and went to Pitt. I also have family who all live in the south hills and the uniontown area. So seeing that you guys are from Pittsburgh and seeing your videos reminds me of so many memories of visiting. I also had grandparents who lived in South Park who are dead now god rest their souls. They actually every year used to take an annual trip up to seven springs. I am loving your channel and can’t wait for more content. Thank you for representing my second home very well. I am also a big Steelers fan so go Steelers. PS

Hey there Derek! Thank you so much for sharing your Pittsburgh connection story. We know where all those places are that you mentioned…really. Appreciate the kind words for the channel as well. Working on some new Portugal videos that are taking me a little longer to complete than I originally anticipated. Stay tuned. Thanks so much!!!

Do you mind saying what the exact name of your ticket was? I only see two options on their website: “Park” and “Palace & Park.” I am only interested in seeing the exterior of the castle (grounds) like you guys did. However, it looks like the “Park” ticket doesn’t include that at all and that I’d still have to purchase the “Palace & Park” ticket. I’ve looked everywhere for an answer and have yet to find a clear one…any help would be greatly appreciated!

I believe we got a ticket for just the “park entrance” We actually bought our tickets on our phone at the front entrance. I asked an employee how to do it and what we were looking to do and he guided me in the right direction. They are very nice there and should be able to help you out if need be.

Quinta da Regaleira is full of masonic symbols. The Well was for initiation process - you descend into darkness ( ignorance) and you come out ( into the light) through the knowledge and wisdom that´s the purpose of the tunnels.
