I fucking miss Lou. And Quine. What a smashing band! Brilliant album. One of the best goddamn songs I've ever heard.
Lou is just madman how he can change this song so much and its still amazing

I knew Lou Reed from the velvet underground, but a few years ago I had a bittersweet opportunity to know a man from Scotland by the name of David Joyce.
David had settled in Merritt Island Florida.. I met David Todd the end of his life . He laid around on the couch all day in his retirement from Sea Ray, drinking Four Loko’s and vodka and eternally listening to Lou Reed in his latter years mostly from the Capitol theater live show and grew in a deeper appreciation of Lou Reed’s music. I consider David a poet of sorts in his own right, just as Lou Reed was an American, New York poet.. may God rest his soul and the soul of David Joyce.
Four loko and vodka drinker, ex drinker. It almost killed me.
The most underrated album and the most missing person for many reasons IMHO. If you don't know the album, don't worry, there will be a day you will need it, you will discover it, and it will be there for you.

I like how they all choose to have a rythmic happy type of feeling but it completely contradicts the message the lyrics bring. Interesting contrast. But I get what you're saying, the recorded version has this magnificent drumming variation that doesn't come close to this drummer's execution.

Well, Lou, THAT SUCKED
Drummer fucks up immediately, Lou looks bewildered by it, bass player alters his tempo to suit the drummer's foot, Quine shakes his head.. start again says Lou
i was lucky enough twice live sweet jane everybody misses lou and the velvets just echoes of the music

From an interview with drummer Lenny Ferraro (not Ferrari 😄):
Q: How did touring with Lou Reed come about?
A: Oh, you’ll love this story. So he calls me up and says, “I got your name from somebody and I’m looking for a drummer and I’m going on tour.” I said, “Okay, I’ll come along and sit and play with the band.” When I get there though, he goes, “Well, the last thing I want to do is audition a drummer.” I looked over at him and was like, “Hey, didn’t you call me? I didn’t call you!” So he goes, “Well I always start off with ‘Sweet Jane.’” I didn’t know any of his music though - I’m an R&B drummer. I ask him, “How does it go? Can you hum a few bars and maybe I can fake it?” That made him start laughing.
So Lou Reed said he’ll count it off and I did that one song and he liked it and said, “I’m going on the biggest tour of my life and I want you to become my drummer. Do you know “I’m Waiting for the Man?”“ I was like, “Can you hum that one too?” [pauses] All I knew of his music was “Walk on the Wild Side.”
Lou did not Quine by that time and mixed him down - big mistake.
I heard Quine wasn't the nicest person in the world, but WOW could he play.
