Hello, I’m glad to have found your video. But I’m having trouble, when I go to restore to the usb selecting OS X Base system it fails every time. I’ve tried several usb drives and download Sierra from Apple several times. I’d greatly appreciate any advice you can offer!

Hello great tutorial Mz i am a bit confused though. If you want to create a bootable mac os x but you cannot login what can you do eg in the recovery mode?
Excellent tutorial! Thanks for posting this, I subscribed to your channel, if the first video I watched is any indication, you will be an invaluable resource.
Thanks for sharing the video, very informative. But i am getting an error when I am restoring. "The operation couldn't be completed. (OSStatus error 1), any ideas?
I had the same issue. After all the struggles, I have done the restore step from the command line (substitute YourVolumeName with whatever you have named your USB volume): sudo /usr/sbin/asr restore --source /Volumes/OS\ X\ Install\ ESD/BaseSystem.dmg --target /Volumes/YourVolumeName --erase After that, the rest of the steps worked fine and my Mac Mini is alive again.
I followed the steps until at restoring to the USB drive. The restoration failed with the reason at the 5th line " fail to verify the size". I was using a 1 TB SSD drive when I do this. I am going to buy a 32G thumb drive to see if the problem can be solved.
This method works 110% Please follow all the steps if you have any problem then please get in touch with me on mzlearningworld@gmail.com i will help you Thanks for watching have a nice day

Not 110%, please let us know what to do. I have the same issue with “size”, can’t restore drive, it fails. Tried 3 times with the same result. My usb drive is 16GB which should be ok for El Capitan. But it’s not ok. By the way, you had to mention that there are no free apps on Mac to extract .pkg files. I did it using windows.
@Mz Learning I´ve spend ours to find away round this on other sites by "professionals". I've tried many many of their tips, but this seems IMPOSSIBLE(!) to solve. I hoped your tutorial would help, but unfortunately not. Same story. This time I'm unable to restore USB from OS X Base System.... it says: "Could not check sizes - Operation not allowed Operation could not be completed (OSStatus Error 1) The operation failed" I've followed your tutorial very carefully. What's wrong?
@Mz Learning I have not skipped. I watched it carefully over and over. The only thing thing is that my USB is 64 GB. So bigger. You are talking about 8 or 16 GB. Is that important that it is 8 och 16, and not larger?
Thank you so much for this video. I was not able to restore the Base OS X System onto my USB. I will be emailing you hopefully you can help me decipher the issue.

Use the Option key on startup. When you turn on your Mac, hold down the Option key until you see a boot selection screen. This screen will show you all of the operating systems that are installed on your Mac, including Windows and macOS. Use the arrow keys to highlight the macOS partition, and then press Enter to boot into macOS. Use the Boot Camp Assistant. You can also use the Boot Camp Assistant to switch back to macOS.
Just like you revert other operating system .......download your require OS, create its bootable usb, back up your data, erase your HD and clean install OS Thanks for watching have a nice day

Are you using the paid version of Rar Extractor? The free can't unzip.
you can get free stuff from torrents, i also tried so many from google and apple store, they are not free. my only option was torrents
Yes, I use the paid version of RAR, but you can use any free extraction software for that purpose.
