I told my advisor that I wanna transfer to U of M, Ann Arbor after I finish my prerequisites at a local community college here in Michigan. She told me that I’m shooting too high🙂
@@predenting Thank you! I went to her for help because I couldn’t find the classes they needed for dental hygiene prerequisites before I could transfer, she ended up saying this instead and sent me a link that doesn’t really show the courses.
Sorry, none of these dental schools produce a ready to go general dentist from day 1. The only one that I have direct experience is from Creighton Dental School. Recently hired a new graduate and he is competent in every aspect of general dentistry including placement of posterior and anterior implants, molar endo, and complex 3rd molar exts. These other schools are only good in name only.
Great question - it depends! If specializing, the quality of education, clinical experience, school name, and/or cost (which can differ by up to $200,000+ depending on the school) matters to you. If any of those factors matter to you, then yes, where you go to dental school matters!
dumbest thing i've heard someone say to a predent. If you're specializing, what matters the most is test score for oral surgery and clinical experience/letters of rec from faculty. Go to the cheapest school you get into always. @@predenting

These rankings are only related to the research the schools do. Doesnt have anything to do with the education

Don't let her discourage you - it's possible! And maybe it's time for a new, more encouraging, advisor ;)
