- I couldn't help myself....I saw a £20 copy of the KA-BAR Becker BK2 and I just had to buy it. It does not disappoint. Very well made, sharp as heck, pretty great bargain for the money. Need to test it properly in the forest and will take it on my next trip.

Its not a clone if it says Kabar on it its a counterfeit unless it's not labeled, there's a difference
Where did you find the MOD knife clone? I cant find any on temu or aliexpress
I got mine from Sgt Prepper in the UK, if that helps? Here's the link, they've got it in stock again... sgtpreppershop.co.uk/products/british-army-knife?_pos=2&_psq=knife&_ss=e&_v=1.0
One giveaway that it's a fake is the white printed model number and company logo on each side of the blade. On the original these are engraved. Still for 20 bucks, not bad. As they say, in a survival situation, the best knife in the world is the one you have.
You may be right about the Bk2 clone having the white print instead of the engraving but it's not entirely true with other models because there is no clone of the BK9 and BK9s along with other models comes with printing instead of engraving,Kabar went from the engraving to printing,so the older models are engraved and the newer models are printed
You're absolutely right. I did some research since my original comment and have come to learn that the newer models are no longer engraved but printed. Apparently there are some BK19 clones out there but they can be be easily identified by erroneous printing. (The counterfeits are printed with "Ka-Bar Olean.NY.USA" whereas the genuine ones are printed with just "Ka-Bar Olean.NY.") However this particular model looks identical to the one currently being sold on Ka-Bar's website., with proper printing as well. I have an older BK2 bought from directly from Kabar in 2015 with stamped engraving. I suppose one might be able to differentiate between an current original BK2 and a counterfeit with close inspection, but just from the video, whomever is making these counterfeits appear to be doing a bang-up job, at least cosmetically.
@@princephrog yeah and right again with the research I just looked at blade forums myself and they are saying exactly what you said about the printing and the "USA" taken out and that information is coming directly from Kabar...so now the genuine ones are missing the "USA" that's good to know because I have 2 BKs and older engraved model like yours and a new one with the printing missing the "USA" that I got from eBay...I don't mind clones but when it comes to Becker I want the original
Have you tried using the knife yet? How well does it hold up? Thanks a lot for the video!
Not yet, I'll take them both away camping in a couple of weeks time and see how it does. I've seen another 20 quid knife on Ali that also looks really decent...!!!
I bought a Chelvy 1- ton pick up truck
on Temu for $ 187.
I'll post a video of it hauling my bobcat
on a tandem trailer.
Good review! Just a question about the BK2 clone: do you think it is indeed made of 1095 hc steel? Have you, for example, seen any corrosion, or have you tested its corrosion resistance by dabbing some vinegar or mustard on the edge? Just to see if it's not some Chinese mystery steel ;)
I've literally just woodland tested it against the MOD knife clone, video going up later today or tomorrow!! Truth is, I just don't know and I haven't used it long enough to know about edge retention. It did a great job batoning, not great at feathersticking - but no great surprise for a Chinese clone with a simple v grind on it...
@@WildandWiredUK Thanks for your quick reply. Yes, it's to be expected that it is more of a 'project knife' that needs some fine-tuning as per your own preferences, but the same goes for the original ;) I was wondering if the metal tends to rust. Chinese manufacturers often use some steels with higher chromium content than standard 1095 (closer to D2 steel). It's tough with decent edge retention and is less likely to rust. The adds on Aliexpress all say 1095, but I doubt that this is what they use.
Clones creates competition in prices.. ❤
The thickness of original BK2 is 6.6mm.
Nice one, thanks
Link to buy England British Knife? Sgt Preppers doesn’t ship to USA.
If you can afford it, get the original for 90 quid: www.thesheffieldcutleryshop.co.uk/shop/full-scale-tang-survival-knife-black-hardwood-handle-7-blade/
MOD looks like cheap garbage
It still works great, has taken a real beating on multiple trips and stays sharp. It's still my goto...
I just bought one and then found this video😂 I hope it arrives.
It should arrive - I've had no probs with Chinese knives so far. They just sometimes take a bit longer than other stuff...I think they get shipped separately...
@@WildandWiredUK glad it brought me to your channel. Great minds... I'm about to go look at some knife edge grinding videos in preparation for my delivery. Thanks, dude.
