Drypoint in plexiglass is as easy as it looks! In this latest video, lines made by cutting into plexiglass are described as a possible element of Carborundum Collagraphs, because carborundum paste is not conducive for fine lines.
These videos are just a very short taste of how to use this medium. To see some prints, look at the INTRODUCTION video and at www.yamaprints.net.. Another video shows how to ink, wipe and print. The book, "Carborundum Collagraph Printmaking", provides step-by-step instructions to take you from buying materials through making and printing collagraph and drypoint plates, to signing your finished artwork. The book includes an entire chapter about Drypoint in Plexiglass.
Both drypoint in Plexiglas and Carborundum Collagraph are non-toxic and make full-spectrum fine art prints using Carborundum Paste. Carborundum collagraphs made using this technique offer the experienced and novice artist-printmaker easy access to printmaking.
Thank you for viewing this. View related videos on my channel. There are images of carborundum collagraphs made by using the paste technique at www.yamaprints.net. Questions can be emailed to yamaprints@gmail.com.

Once you used the drypoint did you cover the plate with the gel? or just ink?

Thanks for the question. Just ink, wipe & print. Drypoint is for different areas of the plexiglass than the carborundum paste. It could be used to outline/define areas where the paste will be painted. Remember, once scratched into, lines cannot be erased if using plexiglass or paper-based board.

What is the electric tool? You do not show it?

Thanks for the question. From the book, "Electric tools such as drills (try assorted bits), Dremel tools, the Fordham Flexible Shaft or electric scribes can be used for creating lines in plexiglass. As with many electric tools, some precautions should be taken due to possible vibrations and heat affecting your holding of the tool. Wearing heavy cotton work gloves can alleviate the discomfort with the added benefit of better control...The book has 2-4 pages of text and visual examples of differences and comparisons between lines made with manual and electric tools. Experiment with what you have using precautions mentioned above.
