I use Ableton Live Lite, it came with the Minilab. The number of functions you can use is very limited and you can have just 8 different instruments in one project, but for me it's enough for now
You need to switch the minilab to Ableton mode by pressing the Shift button and the drumpad completely on the right. Then pressing on the square starts the track. Check out the channel Magpie melodies, she has a tutorial on how to liveloop, it's good.

I got lots of school, so couldn't really get into it, but finally managed to sit down and do one easy track, it's on my channel :)
