Abstract: This talk will give a whirlwind tour through some topics in the wide world of program optimization. It offers a perspective that taxonomizes techniques into "transformation" and "synthesis" approaches. We walk through four techniques and see how they fit into this taxonomy, and discover how these two approaches can complement and benefit each other.
