- On Monday 7 January 2013, we opened up the Royal Opera House for a day of live streamed rehearsals, interviews and masterclasses. Join Music Director, The Royal Opera, Antonio Pappano as he works with two Jette Parker Young Artists, Jihoon Kim and Michele Gamba on Banco's aria from Verdi's Macbeth.
Excellent teaching here. Respectful yet demanding. This is what a master class is all about. This young man is well on his way.
Thank you for uploading this interesting video clip of Pappano's vocal masterclass.
Compared to classical ballet, I hardly know anything about Opera. Watching this video definitely has helped me to start appreciating this wonderful art form.
Classical ballet is far more enjoyable nowadays IMHO
Wow, this seems really difficult. Came here from the ballet part actually haha!
His kind of coaching I do need.... I wish I was young at age.... I guess I could be far better with my singing than I am right now....
This is funny to me... he has been misclassified the pitches on the bottom are forced
Good Bass. He is going to be /could be/ a great one.
He's now a baritone and recently won the Cardiff Singer of the World Competition 2021... so yes!
2:15 Death motif from Die Walküre
Wow. Helpful.
--Ghiaurov's voice is amazing .
Was just thinking that's how he sounded too
yes he does sound similar to Ghiaurov herr. What's wrong with that ? It fits the role. sounds good.
I'm sorry but I am a young dramatic bass and there are a lot of misclassification going on
He is absolutely not a baritone. I don't know where this pointless discussion comes from. He is a bass.
you can hear from the resonance in his lower register that he is a baritone, although he has a very dark tone to his voice similar to that of basses
No, he is not a bass. He is fabricating a sound of bass, but he can’t even sing the low notes.
@@promopera yes, he lacks squillo, but if he had, if he didn't try to sound dark, he could probably be a good baritone
Baritone for sure
I concur. I notice he tends to fake the lowest notes making a very dry sound, might he become a bass eventually whether he manage to develop more squillo
What a great voice !
TONY THE TIGER. ILU.
Wow he's not ready for this song ... He's a baritone right :/
Banquo*
good voice!
Baritone
Is he British?
born in Britain to Italian parents, holds dual citizenship British/Italian, spent much of his youth in America. Pappano 's make up is very much international
I just don't buy it...even though he has an excellent instrument.
I find many modern singers boring and uncharismatic, both vocally and personally.
He doesn't feel or experience what he's saying...
It should be noted that this young singer is still not a bass, and he can barely sing those bass sounds.
He is singing to his ears. Too dark, no resonance, because he doesn't understand the square in the back of the throat which Caruso taught Rosa Ponselle, and she taught to James Morris, below. The orchestra will bury him.
