Hey question 9 is technically wrong. There were other slytherin descendants mentioned on Pottermore to open the chamber of secrets, that’s how they adapted the chamber to the toilet built on top and so the basilisk can use the plumbing system which wasn’t in hogwarts when it was first founded since wizards and witches didn’t use plumbing methods until the 18th century.

Actually, you do die by looking directly into its eyes. If you look through a secondary way i.e. a mirror, camera, or water, then you get petrified, as in Chamber of Secrets.
