Elderly Parents - My mother is still independent and financially stable. However, she is slowing down and has certain medical issues. So, she understands that her position will eventually change. I told my mother that I am leaving the USA by the end of this year and never coming back. She can either come with me, or rely on my sister. Since that warning, my mother has committed to living 6 months abroad and 6 months in USA. So, its a start. My belief is that by the second year, after she has met friends abroad, and once her long standing friends begin visiting her abroad, she will make a permanent move. Caring for her abroad will be much easier and less expensive than USA. I put my aunt in a home when she developed parkinson's. it costs about $8K per month and we still had to purchase many supplies. Abroad, it costs about $2K. Better yet, if my mother just needs non-medical (when her time comes), I could hire a couple of nurses to come to the house for less than $2k. Bottom line, my mother is warming up to the idea. Either way, I'm out of here!! I moved to Mexico once but returned after 3 years. I have regretted that decision and 11 years later I am making up for that bad decision. Good Luck to everyone trying to move abroad. Go Where You Are Treated Best!!
You are so fortunate that your mom is brave enough to go on this journey with you. I wish my mother were more brave. 😢. Those facilities are ridiculously expensive especially for those that don't necessarily need daily medical care.

They're about the same price in Portugal; but the one that I got a Costco was on sale for about $89 and it's full color laser multi-function. 🤤 But we don't do a lot of printing. Maybe a couple of pages per week. We got a color ink jet for about €79 - which was about all I was willing to pay. 🤣
