Thank you Paulo!! This video has out-performed all my recent videos. almost 30,000 in less than 2 weeks! I'm thrilled and the suggestion came from you!! THANKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love that you do videos at this level when you're clearly a really top piano player. I can follow this easily and can learn loads from you and others on here but when trying to move up a level I just hit a wall which I find hard to get over. Sometimes I practice loads and sometimes not at all but I still find the same wall. Very annoying! Best thing I did to get past this is to play in a band. I found playing live with other people was the best way to get to another level.
We moved a 6' Grand piano yesterday just like yours. same make/brand. perfectly tuned & voiced. house A to house B, I played "Moonlight in Vermont" on it with mostly your voicings at the delivery house. customer was well impressed! (We've got a "moondog" piano tilter on our van. great bit of kit! )
This is a very interesting song with rich and open harmony and the must is this " bridge over trouble water " as you have two different option according the modulation used on second "A" As you explain in the key of C, the original version leads to the 6b degree ( Ab ) through a cadenza ( I IVm V I bIII ) while Mamma Cass used a complete different ( I III 7 ) sustaining common note E ( C7 E7 ) leading to the 6 degree ( A ) to start the bridge with the most beautiful chromatic conclusion . Simplicity is often the hardest thing and here the pop approach shows his efficiency and some superiority for me . I remember long time ago having discussed that point with a trombonist who wrote an arrangement according to the original and pointed " it doesn't work well for me " since my ear was definitely on Mamma Cass . "
Came across this video on my RUclips feed! I love to listen to jazz so I clicked and I don’t really understand what I just watched because of my lack of music theory, but I really enjoyed watching you play around the piano and figure out what was best when transposing “Dream A Little Dream of Me”! :)
I've played this great song many times on stage as a soloist and with a band. My version was more pop/rock. I really like the jazz interpretations. Thanks Tony; nice job.
Wow. That the first time that I seen Tony and i just ran to the piano after the video. The key is that he is really good yet doesn't make you feel like he is that much better than you.
Very nice would be an understatement Tony. More like scintillating, flashes of brilliance and command of music knowledge and piano technique. Thank you
Love this Tony. I play piano by ear and read music a tiny bit! Don’t know how I’ll get on but this sounds superb to learn. Thanks so much will give it a try 😊
Hi Tony, I just discovered your youtube channel and I love your take on teaching jazz piano. Also a free chart is very nice when you're a student. Love your work
Awesome Breakdown as always, thank you so much! I always loved this tune and now i kinda hear/see why. It has so many nice harmonic moves like the diminshed passing chord, the IV - iv - I , a tritone sub & a modulation without feeling forced. its just so flowy. When i am down and outburned, Tony W. makes Music fun again :) Greetz from Berlin
Thanks so much Tony! Very glad I found your channel. Straightforward and enjoyable to learn, love your take on the chord variety. Wonderful song for me to start as a jazz beginner…
Can you please play forever by the little dippers, I’m trying to learn how to play it on piano for my girlfriends birthday, but I can’t find any tutorials or sheet music for it
Gotta love Tony's humility. The man doesn't remember how the song goes and instead of trying to hide it he checks it on RUclips. Respect.
Tony... thank you for making my mother happy... You came through for me and made her smile. I will not forget it :)
