As a Zelda main I think people just suck at playing Zelda. She is amazing but requires solid timing and prediction. Have to learn where your opponents like to position themselves while they fight and punish it.

As an Izzy main, she's not good. One of the only command grabs in game that can be shielded, minimal melee range, and a reflector, ESPECIALLY Hero's Bounce, shuts down her best approach options. She's great at setting up traps, but she doesn't have enough to hang with most on tiers above her. She IS fun to pocket Wario's bike, ROB's gyro, Diddy's banana, and K. Rool's crown, and they don't get them back until she dies (with the exception of K Rool).
They're not random or garbage, they're largely data-driven, but you're right about the fact that the tier list is based on statistics and there are always players that represent characters performing as outliers.

@@12bjorn34 online, there is more delay, making some things harder or impossible to react to. Offline there are about 6 frames of delay. Online it can go as high as 15-30 sometimes. 30 frames is half a second. This is before accounting for human reaction time. Half a second is enough that some things may actually be unreactable online, even if they can be offline. A good example is PK Fire. It telegraphs that it is coming for 18 frames while Ness tells you it is coming. 12 frames of reaction time offline can become unreactable on laggy Wi-Fi. Ultimate has such abnormally laggy online play that it genuinely affects balance relative to offline play.
zelda is slow, light, has inconsistent aerials and her moves have a lot of lag kirby is one of the lightest characters in the game, awful air speed, his recovery is extremely reliant on jumps, very vulnerable to getting camped out due to his lack of good approach options
there's two bottom tiers lmao not nearly enough for there to be this long of a compilation without heavy filler (especially because their ztds are not eyecandy)
Because aside from practically Ganon, and even he's better than several other game's notorious bottom tiers due to being the game's best noob killer, none of them are exactly bad in terms of tools and skills they have. They are all just rather outclassed by most, with less reliable tools, setups, and bad stats. Pit them against Melee Bowser, Melee Kirby, Brawl Ivysaur, Brawl Ganon, and even Brawl PT, they can all straight up destroy them easily.
Anytime that a Steve loses to a low tier is a true satisfaction to watch
